The guy who runs the place is friendly and easy to deal with. I enjoyed my stay at the hostel, and would stay there in the future. If I had to pick one thing to complain about it would be the limited number of showers/sinks (1 of each on our floor).
I stayed four nights at Eden Walking Street Hostel and had THE BEST experience! The owner, Ningnong, is so friendly and helpful, he has so much good information on everything in Chiang Mai. He recommended certain activities and destinations but wasn't pushy at all. He truly wants everyone to have a great time in CM. Also, when I wasn't sure of how to get to some shops nearby, he walked me to each place so that I wouldn't get lost.
Because a lot of the guests were solo, everyone was open to hanging out and getting to know each other, and Ningnong encouraged people to hang out together. The lounge areas by the front desk and just outside the front door have really comfy seating and are great for meeting new backpackers. There were always people hanging out, chatting, making plans, inviting each other to go eat, or to join them on an excursion.
There are large lockers in your room, a lock and towel are provided. Beds are very firm! Rooms and bathrooms/showers are very clean, and cleaned frequently. There was always a bathroom and/or shower available when I needed one, with warm water.
Ningnong can book tickets to anything you need, schedule transportation, etc. He'll answer all of your questions, he's always available, he never sleeps!
Eden is very close to the Sunday Night Market, restaurants, 7-11, laundry services, temples, etc.
