About this property
Péniche Ulysse Amaree sur le Canal du Centre en Bourgogne
ULYSSE, our houseboat, is moored on the Canal du Centre in Chagny, Saône-et-Loire. It’s a peaceful, relaxing spot in the shade of the trees. The houseboat features 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, oven, induction cooktop, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, kettle, dishes, etc.) wine cellar, a living room with a record player, a walk-in shower, a half-bath, and a small walk-in closet. A large terrace features a dining area and a lounge area, along with two large umbrellas, offering a lovely view of the harbour. The greenway (which runs near the houseboat), located along the Canal du Centre, begins in Santenay and ends in Champforgeuil, north of Chalon-sur-Saône. It winds through varied countryside. Four river rest stops are available in Santenay, Chagny, Rully, and Fragne. In Santenay, cyclists can continue through the vineyards on the beautiful Beaune-Santenay bike route, which winds through the vineyards. To do so, you can reserve bikes—with or without electric assistance—at the tourist office in Chagny. Pedestrians can also use this route. Chagny has all kinds of amenities within a 5-minute drive (supermarkets, laundromats, restaurants, etc.); it has a Sunday morning market, and the town centre is 1 km away. Wine-growing villages are nearby (Meursault, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, Rully, Santenay, Volnay, Beaune, Chalon-sur-Saône, etc.). Castles can be visited in the surrounding area, such as in Rully, Pommard, Meursault, and Demigny. Don’t forget—and don’t miss—a visit to the Hospices de Beaune, where the famous annual event “LA VENTE DES VINS DES HOSPICES DE BEAUNE” takes place. The Route des Grands Crus is a scenic route that winds through the most prestigious wine region in Burgundy, passing through thirty-eight picturesque wine-growing villages in the Côte de Nuits-Saint-Georges and Côte de Beaune between Dijon and Santenay. Wine tastings are offered at various wineries. For fun for all ages, there’s Acrogivry (30 minutes from Chagny) and Les Aventures en Forêt. It’s the largest adventure park in Burgundy, featuring 32 courses and over 320 activities. It’s a very pleasant, shaded spot with light meals and refreshments available. (See the website for more information.) In Chalon-sur-Saône, you’ll find the NÉCEPHORE NIÉPCE Museum, dedicated to the history of photography. Also worth visiting is the Cité Gastronomique in Dijon (A6), 50 minutes away. Be sure to bring your hiking boots—there are some beautiful walks to enjoy with friends or family. Ulysse welcomes you with open arms, so don’t hesitate—come discover Burgundy and get to know ULYSSE.
