"Excellence Rivera Cancun is a beautiful resort with quiet outdoor areas to relax as well as swim up bar if you’re in the mood for a more social atmosphere. Fun daytime as well as evening activities. Friendly, accommodating staff. A fine selection of restaurants and bars. It was always easy to get a table, order food and top shelf drinks from the attentive waitstaff. The only downside was that the beachfront wasn’t very inviting in April due to algae which blows over the ocean from far away seasonally and ends up on Gulf of Mexico beach’s at that time of year. It would be worth the time to research and schedule a stay outside of that season. No matter if beach isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of pool space, lounge chairs, etc."

"Resort is beautiful & very clean! The rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. We opted for the “Elite Club” access, but not sure it was totally worth the extra cost or even necessary. I will say that if you are looking for a “quiet/laid back” pool atmosphere the EC pool & pool bar is exactly that & might be worth the extra money. We never had any issues getting into any of the the restaurants, which seemed to be the case whether you were an Elite Club member or not. We felt our best meal was the one night we took advantage of the private EC restaurant, but all of the food options were very good. Biggest issue for us was the limited hours for the restaurants, with the exception of the buffet. Keep in mind that the very large buffet or the pool grill (hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken) are the only lunch options offered."

"The buffet food quality is terrible and the dinner reservation process is a nightmare. After standing in a line for over an hour at 7am we managed to get one dinner reservation at 5.30pm during our whole 5 day trip. Its a shocking decision from the hotel to do things this way and leaves everyone very angry. Even the staff think its a joke. The hotel itself is lovely and a 5 minute walk to Xcaret. Also the Michael Jackson show that was on was fantastic. So if you can accept terrible food and an angry reservation process in favour of location then this is the place for you. I would recommend finding a hotel with much better food reviews and take a taxi to the parks."

"stayed here in 2022, awesome experience. now with their mega expansion and not enough employees, not even a decent stay. list was too long. Stay somewhere else."

"The food at the buffet is always good. The restaurants that require reservations are just ok. The staff is kind, friendly, and they make your stay amazing. The beach is small, but beautiful. This is my 2nd stay this year at this resort and i will go back."
