4.0 star property
La Iruela
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (51 reviews)
"This hotel is located in a tiny town amongst olive orchards with close proximity to Cazorla and the Cazorla Nature Park. It is a family run hotel, and the owner/manager goes to great lengths to make you feel more like a family guest in her home, than a guest in a hotel. The views over the olive groves from the room balconies are amazing! We also enjoyed a fantastic dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, and breakfast in the mornings. Maria, the host, is full of ideas of things to do and directions...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Castril?
The best area to stay in Castril is within the village centre itself, particularly around the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the streets immediately surrounding it.

This central area offers the most convenience and a genuine feel for village life. You'll find a selection of small guesthouses and apartments located amongst traditional white-washed houses. The Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the heart of the village, often bustling with locals, and provides easy access to local shops, cafes, and the church. From here, you're also just a short walk to the start of the famous Castril River Walk.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will appreciate staying in the village centre. It offers a relaxed pace, with opportunities to enjoy local cuisine in family-run restaurants and experience the authentic culture of rural Andalusia. The proximity to the river walk provides a wonderful natural attraction for leisurely strolls.

For solo travellers seeking a peaceful retreat and a connection with nature, staying close to the village centre is also ideal. It allows for easy exploration of the village on foot and provides a convenient base for accessing the natural park's hiking trails.
When is the best time to go to Castril?
The best time to visit Castril is during spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.

During spring, the countryside around Castril comes alive with wildflowers, and the temperatures are comfortably mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is ideal for hiking in the Sierra de Castril Natural Park, exploring the walking trails along the Castril River, and enjoying the local wildlife. It's a great time for couples who want to enjoy nature and outdoor adventures without the intense summer heat.

Autumn also offers excellent weather, with temperatures similar to spring, usually between 18°C and 28°C. The landscape takes on beautiful earthy tones, and the climate is great for exploring the village's historic centre, including the Peña de Castril and the Church of Santo Domingo.
