Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Baza holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane trip can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Next, make room in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your important medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also banned.

What to wear on a flight:

• Comfort should be your main priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise option, as are flat, slip-on shoes.
• The result of sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers during long flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your legs and feet moving and wearing compression socks to help your circulation.

• Be sure to have your boarding pass and passport within close reach. They're the first things you'll be asked to present to security.
