"The Hotel was impeccably decorated with genuine authentic charm. The restaurant for breakfast could not have been better as the setting was as close to perfect as a hotel could achieved. Well done !! ."

"I had to check in 2&half hour later, as the host was cleaning the house while we were waiting outside of the property including 2 kids in the bad weather. Once we entered we had to clean sofa and floor was very sticky. And next day we did come from outing and we wanted to shower but there was no pre paid top up left for gas. I did communicate with him by WhatsApp and phone call he did not respond at all. Then I did try by Expedia then he replied he can’t come I have to do top up for gas time was around 10 pm. I couldn’t go as I know shop is closed by then. I don’t recommend to book this property as he is very unprofessional and rude. Thanks"

"Pear Tree Cottage. Business traveller...plenty of parking, plenty of space to work, comfortable double bed, wifi is good, shower is good, hot water plentiful but no shower gel's or shampoo provided. The towels that are provided are older than me and are in a size more akin to hand towel than bath towel. So pack your toiletries and towel before you arrive. The property is in a lovely rural location and can feel isolated, so as there is no access to food on / near site either come prepared or get ready for a drive. As a self catering holiday let, I'd dare say again; plenty of parking, plenty of space, good shower, comfy bed, good wifi........BUT.....I would add no welcome basket upon arrival. There are no shops nearby (that I saw) so take with you whatever you think you'll need and this includes tea, coffee, milk and sugar! Entering the lounge / kitchen I found a packet of biscuits (thank you very much) and a box of six coffee sachet things that you pour into a mug and add hot water....there was no milk - fresh or UHT, no sugar - I assume the gifts had been left by the owner as a welcome but equally could have been left by the last guest much like the random assortment of half used sauces in one cupboard. Being very fussy, there are plates, cups and mugs etc but nothing matches and it all feels old and unloved. Great location for a romantic break or to disconnect. It's a good facility, not bad, not exceptional, just.....good. Good value but wouldn't stay again."

"This cottage was quite literally perfect in every way! Our hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful while we were traveling from outside of the country to make sure that our stay was even better than advertised. The cottage is cozy, so best for 1-2 people to stay versus 3 or more. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the living room fire place was perfect for a cold night. The location is unbelievable. Situated right in downtown Hillsborough, you're able to quickly walk to a bakery, pub, restaurant, Coop, and everyone in the town was incredibly friendly. Parking is a little tricky if you aren't comfortable with tight spaces but the neighbors were wonderfully helpful and understanding. If you don't plan to drive, be warned that ubers aren't frequent in the area, and the taxi cab companies will service but need advanced notice. The hosts provide great instructions and go above and beyond to make sure that you're aware of that, and who is a trusted vendor to call. We hope to be back here as many times in the future as we can! "

Founded in 1981, Hilden Brewery in Lisburn is the oldest independent brewery in Ireland. It is to be found in the grounds of Hilden House, a Georgian manor once home to the Barbour linen company. Here it was that Thomas Andrews, ill-fated designer of the Titanic (the ship left from Belfast, 15 minutes up the road), was married to a Barbour sister. To mark the regeneration of Belfast’s riverside Titanic Quarter, a special pale ale was commissioned from the brewery. Other prominent guests at the house have included William Wordsworth and Edward VIII.
