"This is a small town in Italy away from everything. 4 hours and 2 trains from Rome. This bed and breakfast (coffee and croissant in the Centrale Bar in the piazza below) may be one of only a few places here to stay. They have no fast food chains in this town of about 12,000 but it is a slice of Italy that hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. The accommodations were very good but there is no staff onsite. Staying there is to experience the rare pleasure of falling back in time into another epoch, unencumbered by the strains of modern life. This is a unique palazzo brimming with soul and lovingly restored by a local family over two decades with a view towards preservation. Everywhere you look you will be rewarded with thoughtful vignettes of artfully curated objects and exquisite, locally-made textiles, all inviting quiet contemplation. The verdant interior courtyard where breakfast is served under the shade of a pomegranate tree is a quiet sanctuary where one could easily while away hours. The rooms are beguilingly, impeccably clean, the hosts are delightful; and you’d do well to heed their restaurant and gelato recommendations. There’s robust wifi in the rooms, but if not for that, you’d not be mistaken for falling under the delusion that you’d entered another era the moment you step through the doors of this enchanting property."

"Positives: service was fast and friendly. Nicola was very helpful of where to visit in LUCERA and help with luggage. Breakfast pastries were fresh and coffee great. Negatives: the location is a10 minute car ride to town and nothing is around (except unfinished building). Landscaping needs to be cleaned up to give the look from the photos. Any noise in the building is noticeable in the room, even chairs moving and low voices. I picked because of the positives reviews, which I think are out of date."
