    Things to do:

Adventure awaits. Discover aquatic wildlife and vegetation at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher or enjoy a relaxing ferry ride across the Cape Fear River to a quaint little shopping town called Southport. Take a trip back in time at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site and Museum, which features live oak-covered trails and bunkers from the American Civil War. Stroll through the marsh to visit the home of the famous Ft. Fisher Hermit. Or wind down with nature at our two state parks, sure to provide a memorable experience with hiking, fishing, and water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking, and search for a Venus Flytrap which is native to NC only. As one of North Carolina's most undeveloped beaches, the island offers a unique opportunity to see many diverse coastal wildlife, including pelicans and loggerhead sea turtles, in their natural habitat. Whether it’s exploring activities on the island, enjoying the ocean views, or enjoying a cocktail by sunset from your own private balcony, Pleasure Island offers diversion for every enthusiast!

Explore the treasures of Carolina Beach, ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine. One of the last remaining beach boardwalks on the East Coast, it includes a variety of restaurants, an arcade, shops, ice cream, Famous Britts Donuts, bars, and more! During the summer months, the Boardwalk is bustling with the sound of music, carnival rides, bingo, family nights, and events like the weekly fireworks and concert series. Annual off-season events include the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival.

We look forward to you visiting us!

    Guest Access:

Our properties are individually owned, and our guests will have use of the entire property! Please refer to the listing for details.

    The Neighborhood:

Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.

After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Off‑season brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.

    Getting Around:

Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

Just as pictured

The property was right on the beach and in walking distance from several eating spots. It was not far from restaurants in the area including Wilmington. The property was older and a little worn but it was spotless.

We had a good stay at this property. Very nice view of the beach and quick access to the beach. It had plenty of closet space in both bedrooms. There were extra blankets, a fan, and a white noise machine which were all used. There were some restaurants and a couple dessert places close enough that we walked. The pier is about 1 mile away and we did walk down there twice. It is about a 20 to 25 minute drive to downtown Wilmington where the e USS North Carolina is docked. Another close day trip is Fort Fisher. The pool is small but nice. Only 3 plastic chairs were there to use. More seating would be nice. Biggest downside for our particular stay was the washer and dryer. The washer could not handle our beach towels so we found them soaking wet and had to dry them outside before we could finish them in the dryer the next day. The dryer broke Monday night and no one came by to look at it after I reported it. We had to dry everything outside on the two decks which was pretty frustrating since I picked a property with that amenity. Overall a nice stay. Our first trip to North Carolina and we enjoyed it.

Great for small family

The property is in a great location, close to the Boardwalk and restaurants but off the main drag. The condo was very clean and a/c worked great to keep it comfortable. The view was beautiful from the deck. The pool was clean and access to beach was very convenient. Would definitely stay again!

The location and view are perfect and worth the reservation. Parking was plentiful. The property overall is comfortable but needs maintenance. The sliding door needs replacing asap as its the only door to the unit and barely works. The master bath and sink drain slowly and the master bedroom door does not close completely.

Salty Hammocks A6

It was terrible!!! The bathroom was nasty, the place was not clean!! The dead bolt was rusting out as well as the door. Didnt feel safe cause we could lock the sliding doors. We did find a piece wood to keep it closed. The one sliding had duct tape all around doir frame and there was a spot that ceiling was chipping off and on our last day it started getting wet and leaking cause some the sheet rock to fall. The second bedroom was hot, so we end up getting a fan to keep other people cool . The location was nice. Thats about all i say.

Overall, we did enjoy our vacation, here. A few things that we weren't crazy about was the condition of the entry and sliding doors. They were in terrible shape and the sliding door was dangerous to maneuver. My daughter hurt her hand while attempting to do so. They need replaced in a terrible way. The other thing that kind of bothered me was having to make 3 beds after arriving from a 12 hour car ride. I appreciate that the linens were in a sealed bag and were obviously clean, but making 3 beds (two of them being bunk beds…) was the LAST thing I wanted to do after arriving. Now for the positives… the unit was very clean and beds were comfortable. Location was great. We really did enjoy our vacation at Carolina Beach. Overall, the positives did outweigh the negatives.
