One or Two rooms in house in O'Connor close to Civic, Dickson and Belconnen!

Double or single room or both available for short stays. Single room has spare mattress. House is older, 3 BR eco-friendly home in a quiet street in O’Connor. Recently renovated bathroom/toilet/laundry. New paint and carpet in lounge and bedrooms. Polished wood floor in dining and kitchen. Wonderful warm wood heater. House is on big recreated bush block. Room for 1 car off-street. Has views of North Canberra, with back veranda and wood BBQ.

Walking distance to CSIRO (10 min), O’Connor Shops (10 min), ANU (15 min), Civic/Braddon (25min) => driving is optional!

Eco-friendly means its set in a native bush and grassland setting. Possums and lizards live here with parrots and over 20 bird species regular visitors.

Remember It is not a motel; it's my home and just rent out rooms sometimes to off-set the high cost of home ownership. Guests have described my rates are very reasonable for such nice, spacious accommodation so close to the City.

Response to review:
This woman is a liar. She just wanted me to agree to a refund in return for a good review. And the evidence was she stayed for a period, contrary to her comment “We had to leave immediately”. I would further describe comments such as :
"The entire property was old and shabby in the extreme.; "every surface covered in dust, dirt and grime.; "there is no way in any universe this property had been cleaned in years"
as a complete lie. My daughter and her friend spent hours cleaning the place before hand as I was away. And it was very clean on my return. The house may be old but was 80% renovated inside in 2022 and new carpets after that.
SO, I don't recommend anyone rent their home to this vile woman Madeleine Easton at all.

  • REACHING NEW HEIGHTS … THE TELSTRA TOWER
The Telstra Tower is seen all around Canberra but is it worth going there? We thought so.
It is something to do just once and perhaps best to pick a day which is clear blue skies, little to no wind and no rain.
Located at the top of Black Mountain Reserve, the drive itself is lovely even a bit hairy at times. You see, Canberrians are extremely healthy people, they love their bicycles and that’s great. However, on a windy steep road lined with bush on each side, wildlife, flora and fauna and spectacular views, it’s hard to take note of all these things as you are dodging these healthy but crazy cyclists.
At the top, there is plenty of parking and the Telstra Tower stands proud.
There is an entry fee and a family ticket is just $17. Once you have paid, head through the turnstiles to the lifts which will take you to the enclosed viewing platform some 870 metres above sea level.
There you will discover 360o panoramic views over Canberra and beyond. Another quirky edition is the red vintage post box. There is a café and plenty of seating.
If you are feeling adventurous, head up the stairs to the 1st outdoor level with the same views but this time no glass blocking the view and there is another level above that. Only recommended when no rain and slight wind.
When we were there, it was an overcast day but it was a nice experience all the same.

This property was an absolute disaster. It was old and shabby in the extreme. We had to leave immediately upon arrival as there was an awful smell inside. I discovered the source of the smell in a kitchen bin which had not been emptied. It contained a rotting dog bone and meat offcuts covered in maggots. The owner refused to take responsibility for it and refused to refund us, making every excuse under the sun why he could not. The entire property was old, every surface covered in dust, dirt and grime. There were flies everywhere due to the rotting meat in the kitchen. I felt unsafe touching any surface in there. The owner insisted that the property had been cleaned but there is no way in any universe this property had been cleaned in years. Please no one stay there
