Barbara and her family could not be any kinder or more hospitable. They have created a beautiful, cozy, and comfortable space for guests to enjoy peace and tranquility outside of the city. The apartment is well-equipped for long stays and also has lovely outdoor spaces to relax. We feel very fortunate to have met such a wonderful host (who even rescued us when we go a flat tire). Thank you, Barbara and family <3
First off, the host, Barbara, is so nice and accommodating. She really cares about your stay and treats you well with her warm hospitality.
The setting is so very peaceful after a bustling day in Florence. Just sit back and relax on the patio and take in the beautiful scenery all around you.
The kitchen is well equipped which was important to me. If there is something you might need, Barbra will kindly try to accommodate.
We stayed for 10 days and loved our time here.
Thank you Barbara!
We miss you already!
Where to start...Barbara and family are incredibly generous and gracious hosts. Our family feels so lucky to have shared their home for the few days we did. Driving down their majestic cypress lined drive seemed like we were entering another world. Once at the home the star of the property, Baloo the giant bear of a Bernese Mountain dog, immediately captured our hearts and attention. Baloo, the goodest of boys, kept us entertained and provided an extra level of comfort you will not find elsewhere.
The home is large, yet very comfortable, keeping five us happily together. The views must been seen in person to fully appreciate as do the breakfasts. Please do yourself a favor and indulge in the homemade breads provided. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (easily walkable) was something out of a movie...more Bernese Mountain dogs, attentive staff, incredible ambiance and of course outstanding food. We left with the whole staff, including the little girl (Anna?) bidding us Ciao! as we left completely satisfied with our pasta, wine and tiramisu lunch.
In order to get to this property you will need a car as it is 10 minutes or so to the Calenzano train station. The train to and from Firenze (Florence) was an easy and cheap ride, an excellent way to see the city while enjoying the tranquility of Tuscany. We will be back!
My family and I stayed a few day while visiting Florence and the Cinque Terre. We loved Barbara and her lovely farm. It was cozy and everything we needed.
Beautiful peaceful scenery. Excellent location to visit la Toscana and come back to rest away from the bustle of tourists.

Wonderful
Great location, easy to get into Florence yet in quiet country setting. Family generous and engaging.
Powdered Montisi is a dreamy property. The host is so gracious and loves to share their knowledge of Italian agriculture and their own farm. The actual property is beautiful inside and out. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy, with many beautiful views.

Beautiful farm house
Spent Easter week with a friend and could not ask for a better setting. Loved the house, Barbara and her family made this a truly home away from home! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home and for personal touches, home made bread, pasta and sauce, spices. We hope to be back! Highly recommend the house!
Our first agrotourismo vacation, and we're hooked. Florence was an easy ride (bus, train or car) but the contented peace of Podere Montisi soaked into our souls. Our hosts were delightful, available but not intrusive, deeply knowledgeable and insightful.
Do not expect a spa treatment, and please don't come here to party, but come for modern rural Italy, in all its complexity, charm and beauty.
Beautiful home perfectly organized and very clean. Barbara was a wonderful host. She was very gracious and made sure everyone was comfortable. The place is about a 20 minute walk from restaurant/bar. Market is further out so plan to have a car or walk a bit. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beautiful sights.
Whilst the peoperty is well appointed we hadn't realised when we booked that it was below the living areas of the main house. As such we experienced a lot of noise from above and on a couple of occasions this lasted into the early hours. The apartment is also very dark since the windows are small. This makes it cooler in the summer but we felt that it was a bit claustrophobic. There is no hot tub as advertised or at least none that we saw or were offered. Many of the reviews note that Barbara is very friendly and welcoming. We certainly agree with that and she was very quick to respond to questions. Unfortunately though we never got to meet her as she was away at the time we stayed. Overall whilst we enjoyed our stay at Barbara's apartment near Florence the property was not as good as the photos and prevous reviews had suggested.

Disliked: Listing accuracy
Beautiful Area, Comfortable House
The area is beautiful and quiet, a stone's throw away from Florence and the autostrada. It's a comfortable apartment and we ejoyed our stay. We were disappointed to learn that the apartment was not independent of the rest of the house but was more like staying in a guest suite as the family continued to live all around us. Additionally, the ad says that the apartment has both air conditioning and a washing machine but actually has neither.
Barbara was a lovely host and provided great service, and information. She is very nice and helpful and truly wants her guests to enjoy themselves. It is the right place for the right people but it was not what we expected.

A piece of paradise and a perfect way to visit Italy!
We can not express enough our gratitude and appreciation to Barbara and her family for amazing hospitality, kindness, and generosity they had provided. We absolutely loved our stay and can not wait to go back. The clean, comfortable, well-stocked apartment is perfectly balanced by amazing beauty and peace and quiet of the surrounding landscape. We had plenty of room for the four of us: myself, my husband and our two teenage sons. It is under a half hour from Florence, which we had visited a few times, as well as under an hour to Pisa, Lucca, and other amazingly charming Tuscan towns (we did have a rental car). Barbara kindly allowed us to partake in the harvest of figs, grapes, and herbs right from the porch. And her freshly baked bread was out of this world. We can not say enough about how much we had loved our stay! Thank you.
If you want to experience Tuscany, this breathtaking property, owned by Barbara and her husband Saverio will transport you into another realm. We arrived by way of a beautiful private road, adorned with Italian Cypress and evergreens. As you approach the main house, there are rows of olive trees, glistening silver in the Tuscan sun. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with homemade bread and strawberry jam. The apartment we resided in for 8 days, was perfectly renovated out of a 16th century barn. Each morning you will be greeted by the Tuscan light, a few playful cats and rows of gorgeous flowers and the trill of songbirds. Barbara and her husband could not have been more accommodating or warm. They were always ready to help, advice or embrace you with a deep friendliness.
I must mention that a walk down the hill leads to a gourmet restaurant, called Osteria Palagetto. This is authenticity at its finest. No tourists, just regulars, treated to the most savory Tuscan food to be found for miles. Don't wait, Please go!
Wonderful is the best way to describe our stay at Podere Montisi (from the time we were picked up at the airport to the moment we were driven to the train station for our departure). Barbara and her family were very welcoming, gracious and helpful. The farmhouse was so quiet and peaceful that I could have stayed there indefinitely!
We were provided with all the necessary food supplies for our first dinner and breakfast (pasta, olive oil, vegetables, juice, fruit, wine, eggs, jam, bread (and yes homemade)! We learned about the farm, restaurants and Travalle in general. The restaurants and pub were within walking distance, and my daughter enjoyed a long hike through the hills, by the river and into Calenzano. Our trips into Florence were easy and enjoyable. I can't forget the cats ---- oh the cats! We fell in love with the cats and Byron, the dog and since we're both animal lovers, this made us feel even more at home.
Overall, this seemed more like a visit with family or close friends. I don't think I have ever stayed in a vacation rental that was this welcoming. If we get back to the Florence area, Podere Montisi will definitely be on our list.
Thank you, Barbara and Family, for sharing your Tuscan farmhouse. I do hope to return.
Gerne wieder!
A wooded glen of Cyprus trees secludes this Italian farm home, encompassed by lush foliage, olive trees and vines -
dripping with the fruit of Tuscany.
Barbara, along with her family, is a kind and generous host. We look forward to visiting again sometime down the road!
Thank you Barbara for all you did to make our first visit to Italy very memorable!!
Podere Montisi was very comfortable…felt homey!! We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay! The beds were quite comfortable and the villa very clean!
Barbara and family were gracious hosts and so helpful with everything we needed!
It is in the country so a car is needed…try to get one at the airport as it didn’t work out for us in Prato. We found out the hard way taxis are not as reliable as we are used to!! Thank goodness for Barbara and her husband!
We had a wonderful time there!!!!
