Peak District Village - Sleeps 4 - Pets Welcome - Woodburner

Bank House is a Grade II listed property in the heart of the Peak District village of Longnor. The property has been converted into two apartments, one sleeping 2, the other (this listing) sleeping 4.

This apartment is on the ground floor and first floor and has the feel of a self contained cottage. With oak beams and flag stone hallway, a wood burning stove and 2 bedrooms this warm, welcoming cottage has great walking directly from the front door.

Easy access to the rest of the Peak District as Longnor is only 10 miles from Bakewell and 6 miles from Buxton.

There is free parking available on the cobbled market place right outside the property. Longnor is a popular village for hikers visiting this quieter area of the Peak District. Life is laid back and the locals are welcoming. Many of the local pubs and cafes are happy for you to take your dog inside and muddy boots are the norm.

The village of Longnor is well catered for with 2 pubs, 2 cafes, 2 shops, all just a few seconds from the front door.

Pets are very welcome at no extra charge.

Cosy Cottage
This was our second stay at this property. Lovely cosy cottage easily accommodated four adults and a dog. Ideal location for short drives to loads of great walks. Karen made us feel very at home when she stopped by to clean the flat upstairs. She was happy for us to leave the dog at home if it was too hot to take her with us. We had the lovely hot bank holiday weather, which was a bonus. It's a shame that the Café was closed (due to renovations) and the pub was closed down. Leek and Buxton are a short drive away for supermarket/restaurants. There are plenty of pubs in the nearby villages for a meal, all are a short drive away, approx.10mins to the nearest ones. We all loved our long weekend in Longnor.........we will all be back again! Thank you for a lovely stay. Hazel, Martin, Sam, Harry and Lucy the dog

Great base for activities
Great situation for activities, walks and cosy for relaxing. Shame the village pub and cafe have closed, meaning travel for eating out.

Weekend break
My daughter and I had a lovely weekend break in Longnor. The cottage was perfectly situated, a cafe and a shop on your doorstep. Unfortunately the pub was closed, hopefully not permanently. It’s an excellent location for walks as well as visiting other villages and Buxton. Cottage was very welcoming, would be nice if there were some wine glasses and more of a selection of knives for cooking but overall we were pleased with everything.

A week in heaven
Lovely period homely property with courtyard garden right on the square in Longnor, well located for all the major market towns like Buxton and Bakewell and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Store for milk etc and chip shop very handy. Proprietor was welcoming, informative and provided some nice touches. Looking forward to staying again.

Lovely area but would not stay at this property again
We had a lovely stay at this cottage, the location was great and local people were very friendly. The cottage was basic and a little worn but we had everything we needed for our stay. Whilst we enjoyed our stay it was ruined by a rushed check-out by the owner who was rude and abrupt. We were having breakfast at the cafe next door (highly recommend) when the owner arrived asking us to remove our dogs from the property even though we had another 10 minutes before our check out time. For this reason we would not stay at this specific property again but would stay in another in the local area.

Do it......
My daughter and I have never had this sort of short break, we packed everything needed to stay in a “home away”..... we need not of bothered. Everything was there to the minute detail, even milk in the fridge. The cottage was perfect, lovely location a short drive from all we needed. I hit my head three times on the low ceiling upstairs and the floorboards we very creaky......I’d expect nothing less. It really was a home from home, highly recommended...... the only downside, and I’m being pedantic, was the fish and chip shop, bad customer service and soggy chips with soggier batter on the fish.....still finished them off though! The corner shop had everything you need but I only needed to visit once, for a paper...... I can’t thank the owners enough for the obvious thoughtfulness they put in to make us feel welcome. If in doubt, do it.......just like the title says.....you will not be disappointed with this property.
