The reception and bar/restaurant staff were very pleasant, although the young kitchen assistant/ server has plenty to learn about customer service.
Our ground floor room was quite poorly lit, but did have a very comfortable bed. There was also a good supply of tea/coffee/milk/sugar etc (although no biscuits) when we arrived. However, it was soon apparent that the ceiling was either pretty thin or inadequately insulated, as we could easily hear when anyone in the room above moved about. The bathroom was not particularly clean and had a broken towel hanger on the back of the door. However, its major shortcoming was the lack of a bath mat or ANY form of support at a sensible height when showering. As a result, standing on the smooth surface of the bath while attempting to shower was nothing short of dangerous!
We dined in the hotel for just one night – only to find that at least two items on the pretty uninspiring menu were unavailable.
Given the overall cost of the room (without breakfast) and the fact that no refunds would be provided in any event that guests needed to amend their plans, we felt our stay had been somewhat disappointing and would not recommend this hotel to others.
