About this property
Tudor style timber framed forest lodge - The Pink House
A wonderfully eccentric and lovingly crafted Tudor replica inspired by the 16th Century and built in the 20th. Obsessive attention to detail, using traditional building techniques and materials, has created an authentic recreation of a Late Medieval timber framed forest lodge. With the embellishment of modern conveniences, including sumptuous Super-King and King-sized beds, this is an indulgent step back in time burrowed away in a private woodland garden surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside and within easy reach of the Jewel of Suffolk – Bury St Edmunds. With plentiful charm, historic character and an abundance of nature, the Pink House is a glorious one-off rural retreat that turns back the clock to a slower and simpler pace. Ground Floor The Hall – An open plan living room with wooden floors and beams under a double height vaulted ceiling, commanded by a towering inglenook fireplace enveloping a traditional log burner. There are two three-seater sofas, a chest coffee table and discrete wall mounted Smart TV. Dining Area – Open plan to The Hall under a mezzanine (with low ceiling) is an oval wooden dining table with matching seating for six. Kitchen – Handcrafted and newly fitted to include a large butlers sink, dishwasher, electric oven with four induction hobs, under-counter fridge with small freezer compartment, two-slice toaster, kettle and small/original pod Nespresso coffee machine. Shower-Room – Walk-in shower, lavatory and traditional hand-basin. Heating – In keeping with its historic nature, the primary heat source is the highly effective log burner which is supplied with unlimited logs. To supplement this there are time-controlled wall mounted electric heaters to support the log burner in creating a warm and cozy environment. First Floor The Master’s Bedroom – King-sized sleigh bed with matching bedside table and reading lamps, two chests of drawers, full length mirror and wall mounted clothes hooks. A bay window offers views over the surrounding woodland. It is reached by its own steep staircase. The Balcony Bedroom – Super King-sized bed (that can be split into two singles) with bedside table and shelf with reading lights, chest of drawers and wall mounted clothes hooks. Also reached by its own steep staircase and has a sturdy privacy curtain to close off the balcony. Staircases – Both bedrooms are accessed via steep and narrow stairs that are not suitable for those with restricted mobility. Outside Garden – Immediately surrounding the house is a lawned area beyond which is a mature multi-species woodland intertwined with a walking path for relaxed arboreal immersion. There is outdoor seating for four along with a charcoal BBQ. Woodland Sundowner Viewing Platform – Tucked in the woods is a raised and canopied viewing deck with four chairs, ideal for sunsets and just being in nature. Parking Area – Off the single-track road is graveled parking for two cars at the start of the sixty-yard path that leads to the house. A wheeled luggage carrier is provided.
