The Bundaberg Barrel is the modern home of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, a much-loved brewery that began its story amid the sprawling sugarcane farmlands of the region. More than just one of Australia’s “big things,” the Bundaberg Barrel is a fascinating family experience where you can discover how the brewery’s delicious drinks are made. Find out about the fresh local ingredients, the fermentation process and the range of refreshing sodas produced by the historic brewery.

You won’t be able to miss the Bundaberg Barrel from the street. The enormous semi-circular barrel is an architectural wonder. Admire its timbered frame and beautifully open glass façade. Enter the building and begin your exploration of the brewery. Join the True Brew Experience Tour and follow the process from ginger root to bottled beer. Use the interactive touch screens and see the ginger root as it is crushed to create the drink’s delicious flavor. Learn about the brewing and fermentation process with hands-on displays. Kids will love the 15-minute 3-D presentation in the brewery’s theater.

Grab a stool at the Sampling Bar and taste some of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks’ range of sodas. Try ginger beer, root beer and a selection of delicious fruit sodas, such as peach, blood orange, pink grapefruit and guava. The gift shop stocks a wide range of souvenirs, including six-packs of the drinks you just sampled. Snacks, candy, glassware and merchandise are also available at the shop. Make your way outside to the garage to check out Old Cliffy, a beautifully restored Chevrolet truck dating back to 1929.

The Bundaberg Barrel is located on the eastern edge of the city. It is less than a 10-minute drive from central Bundaberg and is easy to reach via public bus. Free parking is available on site. The tour price includes an audio guide and access to the Sampling Bar. Discounts are available for children and students. The Bundaberg Barrel is a family-friendly destination and is open daily. A short walk west will bring you to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery.
