Very nice hotel with a theme of Tango, has display of many memorabilia items from famous tango dancers. Decor is retro for 50’s or 60’s. Rooms are big, there is a large sitting area with a sofa and two chairs. Bathrooms are newly remodeled. No facial tissue (Kleenex) box there are two small tissue packs each has 3 tissues. Bed is comfortable but the bed cover is confusing it tends to slide off the bed and hard to put back the way it was placed. TV doesn’t have any English channels.

A decent accommodation at a fair price

I spent five days at Tanguero. As a budget-conscious business traveler, I was attracted by reviews of various Expedia-related customers. On the plus side, the staff is great. Most speak at least some English and didn't laugh at my marginal Spanish 'skills.' Very personable and helpful with questions regarding the city, restaurant suggestions and even finding a dry cleaner (since the hotel does not offer a clothes iron/board, which was surprising and disappointing). Even though the hotel is somewhat old, there was ample hot water and I mean hot! Room service was efficient and unobtrusive. The car arranged for my trip back to the airport arrived exactly on time. Clearly, Tanguero commands the respect of local businesses. Breakfast and Internet access were free but marginal. At times, it was difficult to get a consistent network signal, but you get what you pay for, eh? On the downside, the walls were fairly thin. I could hear people all over the floor, but then, they weren't exactly trying to be quiet. The room got quite warm at night with the heat off, even though it was the beginning of winter. I tried to run the central fan to cool down but it was like sitting next to a small jet engine (though it definitely drowned out the neighbor noise!). All in all, if you are on a budget, Tanguero is a pretty good deal despite its limitations. Probably more 3 1/2 stars than four. If they could fix the volume of the ventilation system, I would consider staying there again.

Excelente servicio

El hotel es precioso y está todo muy bien cuidado. La ubicación es céntrica, solo que la calle se pone un poco fea de noche, pero si salen para el lado de Córdoba no hay mayores problemas. El desayuno es correcto. En general, un muy buen hotel, lo recomiendo.

El hotel es hermoso! Muy recomendable, a pocas cuadras del obelisco, estaciones de subte y av. Corrientes... Lo malo es que reserve por HOTELES por que me daba la opcion de pago presencial en el hotel, pero al llegar me encontre con la sorpresa de que el hotel ya habia cargado a mi visa el valor total de la estadia no pudiendo hacer nada al respecto, pesimo en ese sentido! No se si error de hoteles o del hotel mismo... El desayuno si bien no es de una gran variedad es bastante bueno y quienes atienden son muy amables (las facturitas estan buenisimas!!). El wifi funciona muy bien!! Ojo con los de recepcion, ya que no suelen ser muy simpaticos salvo por un par de excepciones...

Wonderful Hotel, Location is not ideal

Let me start by saying that this hotel is beautiful. The rooms were very spacious (the size of a suite), clean and have a ton of character/charm. However, I do not recommend this area of town to stay if you are just touring Buenos Aires. I did not feel safe in the neighborhood which is largely deserted at night. We stayed in Recoleta for the first part of the trip and I felt much safer there.
