The cottage is on the edge of Churston village and was built by Lord Churston for his tenants... spot which of the windows are false, and make sure not to use the front door. Allegedly the Lord didn't want his tenants racing onto the street to demand his attention when he passed in his carriage, so he built the (shared access) entrances at the rear of the cottages - but added a fake door for appearances sake.

If desired you can proceed on the coastal path, which takes you beyond the town, to yet, more stunning views and beaches.
It is only a 5 minute walk from the village to a regular bus service to Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. Dartmouth can be reached by bus or (steam train - services run from February half term to the end of December). Listen out for the train whistle which can often be heard from the cottage !

Beautiful period cottage in a quiet location that’s great for reaching any part of Torbay. Coves and beaches are nearby and shops as needed. Hope to return.
We had a great time with my family in this lovely cottage: very comfortable and cozy, in a beautiful area.
THank you so much!
We'll be happy to come back.
Really cosy cottage, lovely decorations for Xmas, great woodburner for warmth. Amazing bath and shower room. Great dog walks from the back door to various coves and beaches. Just a shame the local inn is undergoing renovations as it looks great. We’ll just have to come back and try it when it’s open again!
Second visit from Australia. This cottage has everything we needed to make our stay a comfortable one. Many beautiful walking trails on our door step. Wonderful hosts always available if needed.

The area for my dog was safe and secure. Autumn Rose cottage is absolutely beautiful, if you need to relax you really couldn't ask for more. There is a vast amount of books to suit all tastes, and many games to suit younger children.
The bed was comfortable and we slept well.
The bathroom is stunning with a rolled top bath and rainfall shower, however, if you have hip or back problems the bath is extremely difficult to get in and out of due to its depth.
Autumn Rose is clean and comfortable and warm as you are able to control the central heating with the thermostat.
Wendy has put a lot of thought into making her guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Thank you Autumn Rose for a lovely stay x
A beautifully rustic cottage surrounded by countryside, but still only a stones throw from everything you might need and a 30 minute walk across the field to the beach.
We down tooled and relaxed, enjoyed everything and wanted for nothing.
We loved our time at Autumn Rose. The cottage was a short walk away from Churston Cove and Fishcombe Cove, two lovely and secluded beaches, reached via a delightful woody path. Seals also made their hellos — a magical moment for the family.
It was a perfect getaway for our little family—and for wonderful value. Will definitely consider staying again.
Recommendation: if you do not have a car but need a taxi, book with Brixham Taxis and do so in advance. Bus system very straightforward and easily located, practically around the corner from the cottage.
Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage in a superb location.
We loved our stay from start to finish. The owners Wendy and Abigail had decorated the cottage beautifully with Christmas decorations (which I’d requested when booking). The cottage is gorgeous with a lovely, cosy, comfortable living room and a very well equipped kitchen. There was loads of room for the two of us (and our cat) so very suitable for a family of four or even five. The bathroom is stunning. It is a superb base for exploring all that the surrounding area has to offer. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts. I should add that we loved it so much we have booked again for next year already. If we hadn’t done so, we wouldn’t have been able to tear ourselves away!
The property was clean and cosy. Just one thing to note - the heater in the sitting room is all fuel and not gas as listed. As I was only staying 2 nights I would probably have brought supplies if I had known. The central heating was very efficient and the house was soon warm however. I also learned that you can buy all you need to light a fire from a garage...except matches!
A great stay in this two bedroom cottage. A characterful property house to stay in, located 15-20 minutes walk from local beaches, and a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of Brixham.
House has good facilities for children - although probably best for children over 3 due to cleaning products etc not being stored away, and the loft room is brilliant but best for children who can manage a ladder without supervision.
Bungalow is well presented, and well equipped - childrens toys in the house, loads of books, and a kitchen well enough equipped to easily cook for a week.
Our only niggles might be that the house could have been better cleaned (food on the floor under the table, lots of cobwebs, dirty toys), and a few items need a little TLC (e.g. kitchen knives are completely blunt).
