What a great spot this place was! Lots of sea life and a short ride to the grocery store, etc. The property manager is very helpful and friendly. The snorkeling is fantastic, and along with multiple types of reef fish, we saw octopus, rays, reef sharks (on an excursion), eels, and jelly fish. We will definitely be back!

Great property for my family of 4. Host was great they gave us a phone and we rented a car from them. We saw sting rays, sea turtles, and fish on the deck. Full kitchen and AC in every room. Watched some nice sunsets. They had great communication with arriving and leaving they allowed us to check in on arrival at 9am and leave at 4pm. It also included a 2 person kayak some floating things and snorkel gear. If we go back it will be here.

Quiet and Enjoyable
The property managers Nir and Tiare were awesome and very attentive to our needs. A cell phone is provided for communication purposes, and they recommended a restaurant that featured a Polynesian show. The location is fairly central between Vaitape and Matira Beach. Just make sure you have a car. The water pressure and temperature was great. There is plenty of room for two couples, but one bathroom was kind of an issue. We got by with the kitchen tools and dishes, but there could have been more options. Included spices and kitchen staples are minimal. Be prepared to purchase everything needed to prepare your own meals. The appliances worked fine, but there is no dishwasher. There is a clothes washer, but we didn’t use it. The amenities in the bathroom were also minimal. If you want to be able to wash your hair, you will need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Soap is provided, but there is no soap dish or body wash. The air conditioning worked very well and kept the rooms as cool as we wanted them to be. The deck area is in the shade, and the dock that goes into the water, which is in the sun most of the day, is very small. If sitting or lying in the sun is your thing, you will have to go to a beach. If you are looking for a 5 star resort, this is not it. However, it is a very reasonably priced bungalow option with lots of privacy. Watching the fish, swimming, and snorkeling without leaving the property is a definite plus! We had a blast here!

This property was amazing!! The pictures don’t do it justice. We had the best vacation ever in Bora Bora and will hopefully go back soon. The hosts were great and provided us with all the information we needed before we arrived and the place is perfect for a couple or a family of 4. It was just my fiancée and I and we had lots of space. The place was clean. You will need a car to help you get around the island.

These bungalows are not part of a resort, so if you are looking for a resort style vacation, this is not for you. These bungalows are located on the north end of the island and most activities are located on the south end so a car is required. Some excursion companies will pick you up tho (by car or boat). The porch is perfect for enjoying dinner and the sunset. This bungalow is equipped with a kitchen and a washer (no dryer). You can snorkel and swim right off the porch area. Kayak available as well. The caretaker was very helpful in providing a rental car (at a much lower cost than Avis) and local cell phone for use around the island.

Great stay in Bungalow 2
Bungalow 2 is a 2 bedroom bungalow on the north end of the main island across the water from the airport. Richard (owner/host) and Nir (property manager) were both excellent to work with and offer great recommendations for places to eat, tours, etc. Nir was so nice and very knowledgeable, helpful and responsive. He is a pleasure to talk to and got us a discount on an awesome family-run snorkeling tour where we snorkeled with reef fish, black tip sharks and stingrays, eagle rays, manta rays, and lemon sharks. They even picked us up at the bungalow. He can also help you arrange a rental car, which you'll need. The bungalow is private, spacious, and well equipped. It's clean, comfortable, and looks just like the pictures. We loved the covered outdoor deck and easy access to the water with snorkeling right off the dock. The main island is relatively small so it's easy to get anywhere on the island in a 1/2 hour or less. We loved having the overwater bungalow experience at a fraction of the resort prices - having money to dine out, do a tour and enjoy a day pass at a nice resort. Also, the food on the main island is much more affordable with great options. Be sure to go to Matira beach - a long, beautiful, walkable beach on the south end of the island with great sunsets, good snorkeling, beautiful turquoise water, and several good food options. This was our first trip to Bora Bora and we loved it. Such a beautiful place with warm, friendly people. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Nice bungalow, needs some TLC
This bungalow is exactly as listed and the owners are very good with communication. The location is good for privacy but you only get sun in the afternoon on the small dock. The overall feel was great but it could do with a few upgrades such as new mattress and sheets. We stayed 8 days and could have used a change of sheets and newer towels. Bora Bora is beautiful and this was a good way to get an OWB without paying resort prices.

Fabulous location with great snorkeling off the deck!
Really enjoyed our stay here. We were in the water almost every day. Swimming to the left off the deck we saw clown fish in anemones, off to the right a bit further (around the headland) we saw manta rays a couple times. There"s even coral and fish (we even saw a moray eel) within a few meters of the house. That said, while the water was clear early morning, it got progressively cloudier later on in the day. It's quite an exposed location, so any wind will come whipping along the water. This meant we often didn't need the AC and just opened the windows and doors (we only saw mosquitoes occasionally in the land side bedroom). It also meant that on windier days it was hard to kayak as the wind was so fierce. Recommend bringing some kind of inflatable to tie to the deck and float around on. (Most of the inflatables provided were broken in some way). Also there was always (non invasive) activity out on lagoon to sit and watch - locals paddling by, tourist boats or local traffic. The house itself is as described by many others here - comfortable and functional. A couple of nits you should be aware of - the windows in the bedrooms rattled when the wind was strong (or occasionally when the AC was on). Also the house wasn't spotlessly clean, for example there were crumbs in the silverware drawer. We did also see one cockroach but other than that there weren't any other bugs/ants. Overall we had an amazing time here and highly recommend staying if you want to avoid the resorts

This is pure. No commercialism, no touristic hassles... live on the lagoon and swim, dream and create here. You know, the elements can be rough on wood and fabric, so some of the finishes are not as shiny as they were 3 years ago, but that can't keep us away. The lagoon is magical.

Our Honeymoon
This was the ideal location for my wife and I to celebrate our honeymoon. We enjoyed relaxing in the water outside the property and even got dropped off at the dock after one of our scheduled tours. Easy access to the local super markets and less than 20 minute drive to pretty much anywhere on the island. Nir and Tiare made pickup/drop off very easy and helped us to schedule all of our activities during our stay. Highly recommend booking this property for an unforgettable trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We really enjoyed our stay at the bungalow. We loved being able to hop in the water off the small dock and snorkel for hours. The location was perfect, very quiet, but still close enough to Vaitape to go shopping or go eat dinner. Nir and Tiare were perfect hosts. This was my first time in a bungalow. I would say that it is ideal "beach / home combo" experience: swim, take a shower right there on the deck, have a snack and then relax either in the sun or under the roof. It wasn't humid at all even without air conditioning (which was working perfectly when needed) The manager Nir was very helpful with tours, dinging and other information about local culture and traditions. We were given the local phone for communication with Nir. It was really helpful. It was really great and relaxing vacation. People here always wear a smile :)

Don't book a resort bungalow, book this place.
We rented a car from Nir, the property manager, must have for the island. Place was easy to find. Large place with great back deck overlooking lagoon and sunsets. We stopped a local market with good selection of food. Cooked two nights and had restuarants pick us up for great dinners. Spent our days at Matira Beach and eat at local's Snack Matira, 15 minute drive and no one is there! It was windy each day at the bungalow, so we did not go in the water or kayak. Best way to experience Bora Bora. Do not be held hostage at a resort with their shuttle schedules.

Great place with "local's" feel
We (me, hubby, and daughters - 19yo & 18yo) are celebrating my husband and my 25-year wedding anniversary. My husband and I celebrated our 20th in Bora Bora and ever since, I wanted our girls to have that experience too. Last time we spent the entire trip at the Conrad Hilton resort in an over the water bungalow. This time we chose to stay here for 4 nights with the girls, and then 4 nights at the Conrad resort (us in an over the water bungalow and the girls in their own place). I'm so glad we did it this way because it gave us very different but symbolic experiences at each of the two stays. At this VRBO we really loved that we watched THREE octopuses hunt for a meal as we stood on the raised walkway about 10 steps from the front door! (we never saw any at the Conrad even while snorkeling) More magic happened when we got to watch a family of 4 eagle rays, at surface level, come right past our back lower deck while all 4 of us were standing right there! We loved that when the neighboring VRBO guests vacated they came over and offered us all their water toys and unopened food, it made us feel a bit like we were the locals with real neighbors. We loved it when the neighbor across the street (a local who spoke very little English) saw our two girls trying in vain to crack open a coconut, and kindly came over and offered "no no, come come..." and walked them over to a coconut cracking set-up he had fashioned in his front yard and showed them how it was done! I would have assumed tourists were not warmly greeted (Hawaiian "stink eye" and all) but that was completely not the case here. The locals we encountered were very friendly. Also a huge asset was Nir, the property manager. He is awesome and made our vacation so much better than it otherwise would have been, by among other things, scheduling a private snorkeling adventure for just our family, where we stood in the ocean (yes STOOD, about half a mile from the closest shore) surrounded by black tip sharks and sting rays, which we "petted/held" for lack of a better word!! Also we got a car from Nir which gave us the ability to explore the island. Another thing is that it was super convenient to have a kitchen and washing machine. Also this unit has 3 mini splits and they did an excellent job keeping the heat and humidity down. All in all, it created fabulous memories, for which I will forever be grateful to Richard, the owner for choosing to VRBO this wonderful property!

Great OWB Condo at a reasonable rate.
We had such an amazing stay at Marlon Brando's over the water bungalow condominium. The property was clean, fully equipped kitchen, washer (no drier, but hang drying clothes made it a easy) and accomodated 2 adults with 2 children (agess 5 and 9) comfortably. Having a fully equipped kitchen with a bbq grill on the balcony definitely saved us money without having to go out to eat often. only downside, condo is on the north side of the island and can get pretty windy during the winter and rainy season. Other than that, I would highly recommend this condo to all my family and friends. Thank you Richard, Seiko and also to Nir our property manager. This was a vacation of a lifetime we will cherish forever as a family.

Fantastic Location for Family of Four
This is our fifth visit to Polynesia, but the first time with our kids and away from the usual luxury resorts. Booking with VBRO turned out to be a great decision for our family! Marlon Brando #2 was a beautiful, spacious overwater bungalow with good onsite snorkeling and swimming. Within kayaking distance was *fabulous* snorkeling--across the lagoon just before the reef, and closer in "manta ray cove" to the northeast. Bungalow was spacious for four and had great island decor. It was far enough from town to feel secluded, but close enough to grocery stores, food trucks and restaurants. We enjoyed watching the boats go by while lounging on our deck. The kitchen had everything we needed and the washing machine was a plus (line dry). Excellent WiFi with a Smart TV that had Netflix and Amazon apps. This unit allowed our family to access this amazing island while being completely independent and socially distanced. Car rental from property manager Nir was convenient and cheaper than local agencies. Highly recommend the full-day Lagoonarium experience which included the best and most varied traditional Polynesian meal of the week. We hiked on our own to several of the WWII cannon sites, a big hit with our teenage son. Can't wait to come back again.

Staying at Marlon's overwater bungalow was an unforgettable experience and a fabulous place to recharge (thanks Richard and Seiko!)! I was greeted in Vaitape by Tiare who provided me with the keys, directions, and a phone to use while on the island. This was useful when arranging last minute activities with tour operators and Nir was also super resourceful whenever any questions came up. The mornings were serene and yet energizing – waking up to amazing views and the sound of lapping waves was awesome! A great place to "work remotely" (sarcasm) during the day and then take in breathtaking sunsets at the end of it. Highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!!

House was as advertised. Large and well appointed. Prop. manager Nir, was extremely helpful with anything we needed. He also arranged our rental car (his), at good rate. We liked the location, away from all the resorts. The swim deck got a fair amount of use! Bike rental from avis at Viatape, for ride around island. Matira beach well worth a visit. Saw a Manta in the shallows. People very friendly, and spoke english well enough. Chin-Lee grocery in town has whatever needed for fixing meals at the home - great for families. (has good meat dept.) Bring along a sharp knife, (a sharp folding type all you need). Otherwise, kitchen is well stocked. We never used the wide screen TV, so unplugged it and put on floor in corner out of way, so we could watch varied boat and canoe traffic instead ("tahitian TV"). There is good wifi. Plenty of towels. A washing machine too! Just bring reef shoes & snorkeling stuff, and you'll be all set. We planned on doing some hikes, but Feb. was rainy season. Trails too steep for wet conditions (OK if a technical climber!) Very relaxing. Quiet. Peaceful. A good value for a place that can sleep 4 people. Note: I had read other reviews critical of : 1.) a hard to slide door to the deck. It's NOT that hard. And actually is a safety feature if you have small kids who might wander out on the deck/into water un-noticed. 2.) The decor described as being too dark. Well, the dark curtains help filter glare when bright sun reflects off the water in late afternoon if home and indoors. Otherwise we just had them open all the time. So, IMO, no need to change a thing.

Property is as depicted on the site. Spacious bungalow with a great shower/water pressure. Main door wall/sliding door is VERY hard to open, mainly used the master bedroom to go in & out to deck. Perfect Vacation
The overwater bungalow we stayed in was perfect for our family. It’s located in a small quiet neighborhood on the beach. Very quiet. Everything was comfortable and clean. The view is beautiful! You can swim right off the bungalow and also use the kayak that is provided. My daughters fed the fish right out their bedroom window and from the bungalow’s deck. It was great having a kitchen as you can cook your own meals. Nir is the manager for the bungalow, he is the best!! So friendly and attentive. He met us upon arrival with the rental car which is brand new and was very comfortable. We really enjoyed meeting and talking to Nir. He is knowledgeable and can help you with any questions about Bora Bora. Being on the main island and having a car made it so easy. It was nice to be around the local Tahitians as they are so friendly and relaxed. Having the car made it easy to get around, you need it to go everywhere especially the grocery stores and shops. We drove to Matira beach to swim almost every day.

Overall it was ok. 👌🏼
For the amount it costs to stay in the Bungalow, I expected a little nicer place. Sheets and towels are old and dark brown. Curtains are dark burnt orange. Dark furniture. Dark cabinets. Windows dirty. Dark, beat up wood flooring throughout. I already spoke with Nir about the cleanliness issue. And also the need to update and renovate the the bungalow. Nir was really great to deal with and he was very helpful answering questions, even providing a local phone for us to use during our stay AND a car to rent which we really appreciated. We loved Nir - he’s a joy. I think the owners need to invest some money into the place to make it nicer, especially since it’s not cheap to stay there. The beds are super firm and uncomfortable, so softer/adjustable beds would be great. The windows are also in need of cleaning to see the beautiful views. I forgot to tell him about needing a pest control service - there were tiny ants all over the kitchen and little spiders. The WiFi was great, and the location was great. We enjoyed having a full kitchen to cook in. I would suggest getting a hand mixer, a blender, and some measuring cups for cooking/baking. Overall we had a wonderful time there and would recommend people to stay there - I would just warn them that it feels like a rustic old cabin, and you might need to give it a good scrub down when you get there.

I spoke with Nir after reading your review. I remember that you did not book the bungalow yourself and were therefore not informed about the fact that it was a private over water home. We are very clear both with photos and with descriptions of what our clients can expect... A resort was probably what you were expecting. I am very sorry you found the bungalow less than what you expected. As I say in our advertising, these Over water bungalows were built in the early seventies and I have invested more money than you can imagine in remodeling and with their upkeep. We recently added full air conditioning, high speed Wifi, new furniture, new bathroom and kitchen, the curtains were made less than a month ago and the mattress's just arrived from Tahiti. I apologize if you don't like our decorating taste, but all of our other clients seem to love it... We are always checking maintenance, paint, etc. The upkeep is constant and if you had a problem with cleanliness, all you had to do was ask. Nir would have sent someone to clean right away. Ants are only there when food is left out and I believe Nir should have told you that. If you tried to rent a place anywhere the size of this bungalow at one of the resorts, you would be paying five to ten thousand a night. We are $420.00 a night. Again, I am sorry you didn't find us up to par, but we are constantly trying to improve and do appreciate your input. The scores of 5 Star reviews also speak for themselves.

I recently visited bora bora with my two sisters, and it was a little slice of heaven. The bungalow is as exactly as advertised and for the price and experience of being on the main island it is hands down the best for the money. We rented a car from Nir, which was a great price as well, and was able to enjoy the local gourmet at the many delicious restaurants and bask in the sun at the fantastic public beach. Over and over we were told while we were there how smart we were to rent this bungalow opposed to staying at one of the resorts because the resorts are not on the main island and if staying at one you would have to take a water ferry across and then, again, without a car it would be hard to be able to shop and/or dine. We did a snorkeling tour one day and our guide was able to pick us up at our water bungalow-so convenient!! Nir is fantastic to work with, he is very accessible and gave us his cell phone so we were able to communicate with him locally. He gave us great recommendations which one was to attend Heiva which is put on only during the month of July-it was AWESOME! Thanks for such an amazing trip and looking forward to returning!

Great Way to Experience Bora Bora
Thank you to Richard and Seiko for sharing this lovely home and making it possible for us to experience Bora Bora. We loved having a home base and car, shopping in local markets, bringing in take-out from a tiny "restaurant" we found nearby and generally getting the feel for local life. Our favorite time of day was breakfast on our deck, watching the rowers go by and gazing on the motu across the lagoon...ah, we wish we could transport ourselves there now. A car was essential - and we appreciated that the owners were honest and clear about that in advance. Nir, the manager, was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We rented a car from him and it was perfect and reasonably priced. The winds were strong and currents a bit rough when we visited, so, unfortunately, we did not swim from the bungalow or use the kayak (although we loved that there was a kayak!). We drove to Matira Beach instead, which was lovely - nice sand beach and plenty of shallow, calm waters (though it can get deep suddenly, so be sure to watch less confident swimmers) and great lunch options there too. The restaurant recs from the owners were spot on too - we had very good lunches at Matira Snack, Fare Manuia (which was especially delicious), and Aloe Cafe. We had a lovely dinner at Bora Bora Yacht Club, which was desirable (after a long day) for being the closest restaurant to the bungalow! We did not do a lagoon tour because we had already done something very similar on Moorea (swimming with rays, snorkeling) and we highly recommend doing that. Our teenage children went jet-skiing one day and that hour was one of the highlights of their trip.

Bora Bora Bungalow
This bungalow is located in the residential area of the island, which was definitely a plus. I love seeing how the locals live. It was quiet and the perfect place for my mother and I for 8 days. It was also off season and less busy--another plus. We spent most of our time on the deck overlooking the beautiful blues and turquoise waters. There were many different colored fish that inhabit the waters and we saw a group of stingrays one day pass by a couple times! The water was the perfect temperature. We took full advantage of making our own meals and used the kitchen daily and grill (once). We had dinner at the Yacht Club and of course, Bloody Mary's. Lunch at the Aloe Cafe. All had great service and food. The bedrooms worked well for sleeping and mattresses were comfortable. We used the washing machine and hung our clothes to dry. For the price, the bungalow was a great deal. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to anyone considering a relaxed trip to Bora Bora! Both Richard and Nir were very responsive to requests and we did rent a car, which was very convenient and necessary to get around.
