This cozy little condo was perfect for my family of four. The location was perfect- just a short walk to Main Street, but away from the crowds. We will definitely be coming back!
The place was clean and convenient. The complex is aging and it shows, but the areas around the buildings are kept up. It is very small but the listing was accurate. The balcony area is not quite a balcony but rather the area at the entrance. The communication and check in and out was very easy. It is a short walk to the fun town and extremely close to some great spots in sunset.
The location was great. Management office was really good at communicating and providing everything they said they would. Place was as clean as it could be. The condo desperately needs updating. The floors are not level. The appliances are from the 70’s and scary to use. There is an insane amount of knick knacks. They just collect dust and take up so much room in a small space.
This property is wonderful if you want to be able to walk to downtown Blowing Rock!
It’s clean and the refurbished apartments are in a great neighborhood.
No issues overall and the property management group is always excellent!!
We will stay again and defiantly recommend to friends.
Apartment is well locate. The air conditioning filter needs to be changed. I have a bad allergy and I know it came from the air conditioning.
Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.
Property was very aged. Huge rips in carpet, older kitchen with foil on stove burners, clothes dryer didn't dry, ceiling fans noisy. We would not have stayed the month. Luckily Amy from Blue Ridge Rentals was fantastic and helped us out a great deal. Unit directly above us had a water leak and Amy moved us to a beautiful cottage in the mountains and saved our vacation.
A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend in the Mountains!
My family and I love Blowing Rock and we were excited to find a pet-friendly, close to town condo where we could all be comfortable! It was easy to find, the paperwork that was provided was VERY communicative and helpful for check-in and check-out, and the property was so convenient and clean as well.
Our only *tiny* note was that the coffee maker might need to be replaced as it was a bit hit or miss on the mornings we stayed and the shower head in the guest bathroom was short and you had to bend your head back a bit for a complete head washing. But again, VERY minor touches that didn't detract from our lovely stay.
Loved that you could park your car, walk 2 blocks up Sunset, and there you are on Main Street to take in all the shopping and delicious food & treats. We would stay here again as it had all we needed.
Thank you for sharing your mountain home with us!
The location of Bear Pause is phenomenal. A short walk to downtown restaurants, shops and bars. I would suggest some updating of the condo. The kitchen is in desperate need of updating. The dishwasher, stove and refrigerator are severely dated but functional. The carpet in the condo needs to be repaired or replaced. The Shower heads are well below normal height in both showers. This could be easily fixed with a retrofit shower head kits with lower flow heads to raise the height and save hot water. That being said, it was a nice condo in a great location.
Nice rental within easy walking distance to down town Blowing Rock. Appliances were dated and there were no spices or coffee filters. I knew this from the pictures and the intro email but I wouldn’t recommend if you planned on cooking. We ate out so it wasn’t a problem but I have stayed in many vrbo’s and I think this is the only one that didn’t have spices, the kitchen was just surprisingly barren. They did have a small shampoo and soap which was nice. Overall I would highly recommend. The town was very cute and we had fun doing hikes along the blue ridge parkway. Recommend the speckled trout. Make sure you have dinner reservations before your trip every place is full on the weekends.
This place was extremely clean, very well stocked and appointed! You could not beat the location, it was walking distance to everything you could possibly need. We discovered one caveat about Blowing Rock while we were there, in late September most of the restaurants and some shops were closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - not sure if that is normal or pandemic related. Luckily, the unit is about 1/4 mile from the Food Lion, so we just ate in. The place is beautifully furnished and has very comfortable beds. We'd definitely go back (on a Wednesday - Saturday trip, LOL).
One kitchen related issue, since we cooked a lot, the one item I wasn't able to locate was a cutting board, so if you are reading this an about to stay there, you may want to tuck one into your luggage. Also, if you need any spices/herbs other than salt/pepper (located over the fridge with a hodge-podge of other things people have left), be sure to bring it. That's standard VRBO practice though.
Great Location but Missing Some of the "Bear" Essentials
Our family has been coming to this area for years (Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Beech, etc.). We love Blowing Rock's small town charm and proximity to App Ski mountain. Not to mention Sugar and Beech are pretty close as well. We've stayed in this condo complex many times and love the walkability to the town center and the park.
These condos can vary from completely remodeled to still having the original everything, and this condo is a little stuck in the past. Although I don't mind the vintage wares, it would be nice to pass on some of the kitschy bear themed décor and splurge for some of the essentials...like a cutting board, maybe one or two sharp knives, and a large enough frying pan to actually cook a meal in. Because this condo is run by a property management group, it feels a little less personal and welcoming as others we have stayed in. Maybe it was due to the busy season, but we also found dog hair floating around the condo as well as a half eaten dog treat. The condo is also equipped with a gas fireplace that came with a novel of instructions. Even after reading the page of instructions and trying multiple times, we were never successful at getting a fire going. It looked like we weren't the only ones judging by the pile of matches in the base. All in all, it was still a good experience...next time we'll just remember to bring some of the essentials.
This property was immaculately clean with immediate access to downtown Blowing Rock and Boone was a mere 5 minutes drive away. The beds and the furniture were extremely comfortable, the kitchen was well- stocked with the necessary utensils and cookware with the glassware showcased in a beautiful glass-fronted armoire. It has wonderful appointments throughout and much care and little touches have been made to make this a fantastic home. The sitting area outside is very cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay . We used the fireplace due to the inclement weather and it gave a lovely ambience to the setting not to mention warmth! Parking was plentiful and overall just a lovely place! If you plan to enjoy all that the surrounding area has to offer then this IS the only location to stay! Thank you to all the staff who made our stay memorable!
