- Welcome to The Mad Cow Holiday House!
Step into the charm of this over 100-year-old home, nestled in the picturesque village of Bönigen — between two majestic mountain ranges and just a 5-minute bus ride from Interlaken Ost. With Lake Brienz nearby and nature all around, it's the perfect place to relax and recharge.
Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat, a change of scenery for working remotely, or a family-friendly escape, the apartment offers a cozy and inviting space to unwind.
In the garden, you'll find a table and chairs just for you — ideal for enjoying meals outdoors or simply soaking up the fresh mountain air. On request, you're welcome to use the BBQ (I’ll happily show you how it works), and you’re free to pick fresh herbs straight from the garden. There’s also a ping pong table with a couple of rackets for a bit of lighthearted fun.

We stayed at Mad Cow in Bönigen, using it as our base for exploring Interlaken and the surrounding area. The apartment is just a six minute bus ride from Interlaken Ost, with the bus stop and beautiful lakeside only a short walk away. Bönigen also has a convenient supermarket and a bakery a few minutes walk from the property.
The apartment is cosy, clean, peaceful and tastefully decorated. The host is an artist, and the lovely handcrafted pieces throughout the home make it feel especially unique. The kitchen is very well equipped, and there’s also an outdoor area where guests can enjoy a barbecue.
Our host was lovely and welcoming while giving us complete privacy throughout our stay. It was an ideal base for exploring the region, and we would happily stay here again when returning to Interlaken.
