Very well appointed rental. The furnishings were nice, and the kitchen had all of the essentials. The space was overall small, but very comfortable for my husband and our two dogs. Great location, loved our stay at Black Mountain and all the surrounding mountains.
My wife and I loved our stay at Woodpecker's Hollow.
We loved sitting on the deck on the rocking chairs and relaxing in the comfortable living room.
It was perfect for the two of us.
The town of Black Mountain is just a mile away, groceries are even closer, there is wonderful hiking surrounding nearby Montreat, it is a short walk to great food and drink in "downtown Cheshire Village," and downtown Asheville with all the great food, microbreweries, shops, and entertainment is just a short trip away.
Please keep in mind that it is perfectly described in the details in the contract - there is one bathroom in the master bedroom downstairs, there was some road noise during the day, you need to take all your belongings and supplies up a dirt path to the cabin, and that for more than two people you better be really good friends :-). These are all things that were perfectly fine with us.
We even extended our stay at Woodpecker's Hollow. Unfortunately, we did not receive responses to our multiple inquiries from Carolina Mornings through VRBO's message system for information on extending our stay, but a good ole fashioned telephone call took care of everything. (They said they left a voicemail after my first message inquiry which we never received and they did not respond to subsequent messages). Regardless, I would rent through Carolina Mornings again without hesitation.
We have already recommended this property to friends and we would love to return to ourselves.
Very nice cottage. Two problems: confusing directions sending us where a bridge was out, and shower rail leaving dirt/rust stains on shirt and towel hung to dry. (*I* would not think to wash a shower rail!) We really enjoyed the setting and the cabin.
The property was beautiful. Felt like you were in your own little place in the woods while being conveniently located near town and hiking trails. It was wonderful.
Wow! A cabin in the middle of the woods on the side of a mountin with a creek. Away from everything but close to everything. Not far from Black Mountain. Close to I-40 for farther adventures. Easy walk along a fresh mulched path to the cabin. Slight hill at the end. Bring a foldable wagon to make toting luggage, groceries, ect. easier.
This property was perfect for me and my husband. The cabin was very clean and I LOVED the jetted tub. The cabin is in the sweetest neighborhood. The stream was right below our cabin and was so peaceful. We can’t wait to come back!
Very cute tiny house/cabin. Had everything we needed and close to many attractions. Only issue, the floor was little dirty. Could not walk on with out socks.

My kids and I stayed here for our July 4th weekend. The cabin was cute and cozy. The kids loved it!! The surroundings provided lots of fun trails to walk and we loved the stream out back. We will definitely come back.
If I could provide any feedback it would be that the decks could have been cleaned more. I know they are outside which makes it difficult but they did not appear to have been swept. There was a broom provided but it was in pretty bad shape.
But again, we look forward to returning.

Woodpecker Hollow
Our issue was the outside of the property. Windows need to be cleaned especially deck doors, and both decks were dirty, we cleaned the top deck and did not use the bottom deck. Spider webs everywhere. Cob webs inside also need to be addressed.

Woodpeckers Hollow - GROSS!
Not as described on the website. This place was disgusting - floors were sticky and dirty, food between couch cushions, microwave was never cleaned from past guest, paper towel holder was broken, coffee pot had mild/crispy flakes in water tank -had to go buy our own, walls in the entire place were dirty and had spider webs everywhere. Bathroom leaked water all over the floor, shower curtain was a little moldy, pubic hair and dust bunnies on the overhead fan, sink faucet has a nonstop drip. The internet would not work which when called maintenance, their first solution was to “If internet connection is lost sometimes you will see another cabin's ID to latch onto” then wanted to have someone come into our cabin alone to troubleshoot with internet provider. The outside deck on main level was cleaner than the inside of the cabin. This place is nasty!!!

Nice enough
This cabin is very cute but a bit tinier than we expected. The directions make it very hard to find our specific cabin, especially at night. There are several cabins packed in the area and no visible numbers or names from the waking path. You have walk right up to every cabin door to see which cabin is yours. There was another family also wandering the area trying b to find their cabin so this seems to be a common enough issue. This could be fixed by clearer instructions. The cabin itself was clean and the little neighborhood was cute and convenient.
We wanted to go somewhere safe and semi isolated to see Fall color and relax in a different environment! This was perfect! Beautiful trees to look at; easy walks in a gorgeous neighborhood that is just moments away; very close to Black Mountain and Montrete; and easy to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Everyone wore masks and provided takeout and we felt completely safe! We spent hours on our balcony and had a fire almost every night. Perfect!
