The facilities are well-kept, and there are definite signs of a recent refurb, which adds a fresh touch while preserving its classic character. However, one can’t help but notice the very thin partition walls. Through them, one becomes intimately acquainted with the nocturnal habits of fellow guests—from robust ablutions to animated personal phone conversations. A group of women in a room quite a distance away could be heard cackling joyously well into the early hours, providing a sort of impromptu audio drama to lull one to sleep. Less entertaining was the gentleman holding court on his phone about a woman who, it seems, had flicked him off at the bar—she may well have been within earshot. Despite the unintended eavesdropping, this is a truly interesting and delightful place to stay. Full of character, quirks, and stories waiting to happen. It gets my five stars. 朗"
