Only stayed for one night but will certainly be back, the hotel is an old coaching inn from the 1800’s and if you are looking for a bland, anonymous place it’s not for you, quiet, friendly, warm and comfortable with character and quirks, my room had a 10” thick mattress ( i’m sad, i measured it ) with very good quality bedding that gave me a superb night’s sleep and even a settee to lounge on while i watched the good sized tv, views out of my windows were of Lickey forest. The kitchen was not open but they have an arrangement with the duck pond cafe next door and i highly recommend them for good coffee, food and friendly service, nearby pubs within 5 minutes walk do very decent food, a great stay.
Good hotel and lovely location. No food available in the hotel - so bear that in mind when planning a stay.

Hotel stay
This felt more like a b&b than a hotel with a 10pm curfew imposed on the front door.
Room was a good size but there was no hot water and required a cool shower....additionally in the evening the whole of the first floor stank of cannabis..
The Old Rose and Crown is in a quiet location on the edge of the Lickey Hills surrounded by grass and trees. It is easy to reach from the M5.
The room was well set out with comfortable bed, sofa and chairs, and en suite.
The only downside was that no food is provided on site but there are a couple of pub / restaurants within 10 mins walk of the hotel. If you need to drive into the city centre from the hotel at peak times this will take about an hour.
Thank you for a lovely couple of days....highly recommended. 👍
Very please with the room I received and the ground are lovely to sit in on a sunny day. Plenty of pub and food outlets within a short walking distance.
If you like older hotels with some character then this should suit you.
The location within the lickey hills park is brilliant with walks within some stunning mature mixed woodland yards from the door.
Waking up to such a view was a gift - and even more realising the fox and chickens on the roof line of the thatched house opposite to the hotel
Room was clean spacious with broad open views, bathroom clean and adequate- not up to the minute fashionable and the better for it

Nice stay and location, plumbing letting it down!
Warm and friendly welcome, The only thing letting it down was the plumbing! Granted this is an old hotel, so the plumbing and insulation would never be perfect, but the room did take some getting up to temperature. Shower not very good at all, but the hotel grounds and staff all very nice!
Booked for 2 workers for 2 nights. Rooms very cold and water from shower leaking and slow. Room exchanged but no better. Workers not happy and sorry today won’t book there again.
No real service, people there you can contact but realistically you are on your own. They have tried with the decor but it isn't great. Loose tile on the bathroom floor, bit mouldy, shower cold etc etc. Would rate as a 2 star and certainly not the rate I paid
The Hotel were great in a crisis. Due to a Forest fire in the Lickey Hills the Firebregade managed to collapse a water main leaving the Hotel without water.
The Manager called me ar work to inform me to discuss options and try to offer me what was best for me from a refund to free bottled water and compensation. As it happened the water board fixed the mainby late evening.
The hotel is fine, if you’re just looking for a basic room, but note that they offer no catering. Reception is also only staffed on demand / on arrival / when you ring the bell for initial access, or later in case of emergency. There is so-fi in the hotel, but phone reception is very poor. There was no obvious lounge area, and definitely no bar. The in-room TV was also tiny, with very poor sound, and poor reception. Basically, as I say, fine to stay, but best if you just want a room, which may be exactly as is described

Dissapointed
Carpets in room all creased up, was more like a squat. Shower was cold, could not adjust as it was damaged.
No food, breakfast, evening meals available, no reception staff.
I was checked into a very small room. It hadn't been cleaned. There was dirt on the carpet and a used ear bud next to the chair. You could barely turn around in the shower room. I wish i hadn't checked the mattress!
When i told them on reception they moved me to a bigger room. On the surface it was lovely but whilst turning on the radiator i found lots of dirt on the floor by the bed and 2 big cut toe nails. It was disgusting.
Both rooms looked like they hadn't been hoovered for some time.
It is very tired and doesn't look like the pictures.

Basic, economy hotel more aimed at the pre-arranged venue market. Large old building, appearing a bit neglected on the outside but with an extensive, well manicured garden in front. No sign of life on arrival apart from some cars in the slightly awkward service yard/parking area adjacent. View of property from car park not very encouraging but once entry is gained to the premises via a doorbell system the lady on reception was extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. Standard double room is small but pleasant with all usual facilities, one chair, small TV set high on wall, plenty of tea, coffee and pods of UHT milk. A nice large shower cubicle with new door but usual patches of black sealant in the small but clean en-suite (beware elbow damage when drying off!) Comfortable bed & plenty of storage.
Extensive house menus around the premises but no food available to guests. Cafe in golf club yard adjacent but not open until 9am, restaurants/takeaways 5 mins away.
