About this property
Oceanfront Elegant Home with Games Room On Picturesque Big Tancook Island
In addition to the ocean view master bedroom, with a king size bed, there is an ocean view queen size bedroom and a cozy third bedroom with two twin beds. Quality mattresses and linens complemented by fluffy pillows and duvets make for a very good night's rest. The roomy bathroom includes side-by-side sinks and a combination jet tub/shower. Also included is a stacking washer and dryer.
The kitchen is fully equipped with the things needed to make great vacation meals. No get away would be compete without outdoor eating. A BBQ, table and chairs make the panoramic ocean view nothing short of enjoyable, or just lay back in one of the loungers to enjoy the night sky. To round out the property there are bicyles, games, DVDs, books and yard toys.
After a day of hiking and sightseeing, take a leisurely bath in the jet tub, or relax in front of the big screen TV. Later, you can roast marshmallows on the fire pit at the shore's edge under a star filled night sky.
Don't feel like relaxing, there is plenty to do in the lower level games room; play pool, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard or darts or enjoy sports events or movies on the flat screen TV.

We recently spent a week at this stunningly beautiful property, and I am happy to say that it was the most amazing experience that we have ever had on vacation. The owner went above and beyond to provide all the amenities one could ask for. The entire island is a delight to explore, and the people are an eclectic mix of delightful personalities. The games room was magical for my grandchildren, and us adults, which is just icing on the cake. The bottom line is that Raymond's place has it all, for people that are looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and fun place to stay, in one of the most beautiful places imaginable. We will definately be coming back!
Big Tancook Island Home - Beautiful property, friendly islanders!
House was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Coffee on the back porch for sunrises, sea glass galore, the truck was a huge help to get belongings from the ferry dock. We had a beautiful week of weather, so we didn't utilize the movies, tv very much, but it looked well-stocked with dvds. Can't wait to return to this island treasure.
The property is beautiful. There were hiccups with key not being in lockbox, car having no gas for 1st day of vacation and then totally broke down when we had to transport family & belongings to Ferry but homeowner was quick to respond to everything and locals provided transport. Also property manager changed hands and we were not aware of this. Stressful start and finale but inbetween was great! This stuff happens!
Had another amazing stay at this property. Was even more pleased with the new kitchen and upgrades! Enjoyed the Cadillac. We will be back! Thank you for everything!
Gorgeous, well maintained property with beautiful sunrise views from bedrooms!
Well equipped with everything you need! Just arrive with your groceries, relax and enjoy! Highly recommend!!

Hi tech in a natural location
Raymond’s place is in a gorgeous setting with amazing views and has all the hi tech amenities you could want. A little out of character for the rest of the island and the Wi-Fi radiation was very strong. However, Tancook Island is a gem and I enjoyed my time there very much. The listing didn’t mention that there’s no grocery store on the island, you can’t bring your car over on the ferry, and that there’s a car included with the house rental. It was lucky I checked a map before my trip. I didn’t recieve directions to the house after my booking and it’s lucky Raymond was available by phone when I got there because I needed his help to figure out where the car was parked, and how to unlock the hood and connect the battery in order to start it, in addition to getting directions to the house. The car needed a little work, but was drivable. All in all, it was the worst of the inconveniences to experience this amazing place.
Excellent accommodations on a beautiful and peaceful little island
I’ve been in this house when it was owned by the prior owner. It blows me away how much it has been updated and modernized. Everything was in the rental that you could possibly need. After a seven day vacation in Tancook, I left stress-free and enjoyed the Rental immensely
Such a cute house on a great island. There were lots of friendly people on the ferry and island that helped us out when we needed help. Lots of outdoor things to do on the island. The game room was amazing. Very charming little place. Will defiantly return.
The managers thought of everything with this rental. It is in a scenic location with a well maintained home and deck. Great games for kids and adults downstairs, nice property with fire pit. Thanks!
We loved everything about it. A lovely seaside location, amazing sunrises right from bed, great amenities (i.e. dishwasher, a/c, DVD collection, fresh white towels, etc.). The "piece de resistance" was the games room. We played darts, foosball, Ms. Pac-man, air hockey, pool, etc. My daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids, 16 and 13, joined us for a few days and we had a blast playing all the games. The location on the island couldn't have been better, being close to the South East Beach with a sand dune going out further than we even tried to walk. The water was only waist deep and warm (for the Atlantic Ocean) because it was so shallow. We might well go back another time because we enjoyed it so much.
Everything was perfect! A lovely getaway by the sea. Everything was provided that we could ever need and the house was very clean and welcoming. Our kids loved the “dream” basement.
We all enjoyed our stay very much. Amanda made sure that we had everything we needed and the place was extremely clean. The house is beautiful and we loved the game room! So helpful to have a vehicle to use on the island as well. We will be back.

This is Atlantic Canada!
Lovely seaside home but view impeded by flotsam on shore and a large shed in line of sight.
The home itself is probably the nicest dwelling on the island and, trust us, you'll never be bored inside if weather socks you in.
This is one dear, quirky island well worth visiting but give it no less than a week, including off-island day trips and island exploration, to sink in.
Great sunrise!
Love the limo!

Another Great Visit to Tancook Island!
This was our fifth visit to Tancook Island using the "Oceanfront Elegant Home" as our "Home Away from Home". We arrived on the island in the fog to find the car parked in its spot by the wharf, gassed and rearing to go! The first trip to Southeast Cove carried some of the luggage, the 16-month-old, her mother, grandmother and Auntie to open the house while the remaining two stayed at the wharf with the rest of the luggage to await the car's return for them. In no time at all we were all in residence, choosing our bedrooms and lighting the BBQ for our first meal. The next few days passed quickly as we rediscovered the many pleasures of this island paradise and enjoyed the fine, well appointed house which was ours to call home for a few days. And our 16-month-old went around shouting, "Happy! Happy" for 4 days!!! Thank you for making this wonderful adventure available to us!

Surfside Serenity
When we chose to visit Nova Scotia this summer, we opted to see it a little differently: this involved selecting an out of the way place as a base for exploring. This rental proved the perfect base camp.
We were warmly welcomed aboard the ferry: the locals had a chuckle at a our 8 Rubbermaid bins filled to the brim. Once at the dock, a local man (Neil) offered to take our belongings to the rental for us - saving us numerous trips back and forth. The kindness and openness of these island folk is not to be underestimated. Salt of the earth people with goodness in their hearts and warm smiles every day.
The accommodations were exemplary. Sumptuous beds, comfortable sofas.
The children enjoyed the games room a plenty! Especially on our first three days here - when rain punctuated the days and nights. And, of course, thank heavens for Netflix and YouTube, and free Wi-if!
Through our past VRBO experiences, we pack the house to bring to the house: here, everything was furnished - from TP to soap to laundry detergent and fabric softener, to cleaning products and more. There was simply no need to bring all the gear we usually do.
We spent many days walking the coastline and meandering gravels roads. We came face to face with many white tail deer. We collected oodles of sea glass (mermaid tears) and searched for fossils at fossil beach.
TIme your mainland adventures right, (to / from ferry) to nearby towns of Chester, Lunenburg and of course Halifax.
The region is one waiting to be discovered. Still, selfishly, we hope Big Tancook remains lesser known so we can enjoy its serene quietude again in years to come.
5Star, no holds barred, a perfect island getaway.
Attentive and kind hosts (the Bouthiliers) with keen eye to detail, offering every luxury one could want.
Campfires by the water... It doesn't get much better than this.
Thank you for the memories.

Return Journey
Our family enjoyed another quiet and peaceful vacation on Tancook Island. The weather was spectacular. We enjoyed the September sunshine during the day and the star filled skies at night. We missed the eclipse of the "blood" moon by two days and regret not having stayed the extra time to witness this celestial event with an unobstructed view of the Heavens. During our nightly fire pit blazes, we warded off the cool September air and managed, at least, to keep the fire side of our bodies warm enough to linger outside after dark to search the Milky Way for stars and constellations. We watched the jets streak overhead to the "eastern and western" as they raced towards their far distant destinations, glad we were in a little part of Heaven on earth that was peaceful enough to hear the sonic booms that followed them.
Thanks for Marybeth and Sherry who catered to our every need with efficiency and good humor.
We are already making plans for a fourth visit to this island retreat.

Coming Home to Tancook
Being no stangers to the awe inspiring natural beauties of Big Tancook Island and enjoying kinship with the island's residents, our reason for renting this house was to rediscover the peace and contentment of our past island experiences of years ago. And rediscover we did! The Milky Way still lights the skies and illuminates the island at night. Sunrises and sunsets remain spectacular. Beach combing for treasures yet delights the soul. Enjoying the peace and quiet, hearing the ocean waves splash on the shore, sitting on a rock watching the tide come and go and seeing the island deer prancing across the fields all served to renew our love for Tancook. Added to all this was the delightful seaside home in which there was everything needed for our comfort and well being. Thank you to Marybeth, Sherry and Sandi for their warm welcome and for the care and concern they showered on us to ensure our stay was perfect in every way. Thank you to the owners who had the vision for this peaceful retreat and willingly shared it with us. Even though we arrived in Chester to discover our car's battery was dead, our enjoyment was not diminished! We are already looking forward to our next visit to 200 Big Tancook Island Road.
