    Premier Ski Access:
Weather Dependent, Big Sky Resort will operate during the 2024-2025 season:
    Early season: Opening Day 11/27/24 - 12/13/24
    Late season: 4/1/25 - Closing Day 4/27/25
Opening and Closing Days are subject to change based on conditions. Please check Big Sky Resort site for lift operations for: Cascade, White Otter, and Little Thunder Lifts.

** Please be aware when making your reservation that lift access in November, early December, and April might not be available. Please check the Big Sky Resort website for the most up-to-date lift schedule.

When Starting Your Ski Day: Follow Little Thunder run down to the Cascade run and then through the ski tunnel that goes under the road. Then take the White Otter lift up and ski to the Big Sky Resort main base area. The easiest route is to make an immediate right onto the narrow traverse on the right side of White Wing, to reach the base area.

When Ending Your Ski Day: The easiest way back home is to look for the four trail signs. Follow the sign for the designated trail to take you to the base of the Cascade lift. You will follow the main flow of the trail, but make sure to take the sharp left over the White Otter Access Bridge, then go straight down the hill following the trail under the White Otter
lift. At the base of the White Otter lift, you will see the base of the Cascade lift. As you ski off Cascade make a hard right to the Little Thunder lift which will take you right back to 8 Little Thunder.

    Climate and Comfort
Please note that this home does not have air conditioning, as it is typical in Montana. Most homes in Big Sky don't, thanks to our typically mild summer temperatures. For a true Montana experience, we recommend our classic "Montana A/C": open the windows at night to let in the cool mountain air, then close them and draw the blinds first thing in the morning to keep the cool air inside throughout the remainder of the day.

The home is equipped with heat for the cooler months, ensuring a cozy stay year-round. 4 Fireplaces throughout the home

Two Pines was very responsive when we reached out for minor issues. (Coffee makers, door knobs)The house was big enough to accommodate our group, and adequately supplied. “Ski Out” was great; “ski in” was quite a bit more challenging for snowboarders, and less competent skiers. Overall, the house was a solid B.

Outstanding property

Outstanding property. Definitely a ski-out, but not so much a ski-in since the rope tow was not up and running. Beautiful views and location. The house has great amenities and great support from property management.

Big Sky is a fantastic place. Low key. Hugh mountain. But it’s a place for skiers. Of all levels. Not a night life place. Which we liked.

Skiing trip

While the home is advertised as ski-in/ski-out, guests should be aware that returning requires a hike, making access less convenient than expected. Additionally, despite accommodating up to 16 people, the hot water supply is severely lacking—after just one shower, the hot water runs out, making it difficult for everyone to bathe comfortably. This is especially problematic in a cold-weather destination. There is also a safety concern with the coffee table, which has a sharp glass covering with a chipped edge. One of our children was injured due to its poor design, making it a hazard for future guests.Overall, while the home has potential, these issues significantly impacted our stay and should be addressed to improve the experience for future visitors.

Great ski weekend

Great mountain property - we had 7 guys, all slept comfortably. The house is amazing, with excellent views and no close neighbors. Very fast access to the base of the resort. Google maps doesn't exactly land on the property, so a little patience when navigating that way. It gets you close, then you just have to read the house numbers (there aren't many houses in the area, so not a huge deal). Very easy communication with the landlords.

Great house for a fun trip!

We really enjoyed staying at this 8 Little Thunder. It was our first time in Big Sky and we would definitely choose to stay here again. It was perfect for our multi-family group.
