About this property
Luxury Cabin Near Sunday River - Sleeps 13, A/C, Hot Tub, 21' Gazebo, Generator
Welcome to Balsam Lodge—a private, four-season retreat just minutes from Sunday River and the heart of Bethel, Maine. Designed for families and groups, the cabin blends mountain-lodge charm with modern comforts: recently upgraded A/C + heat pumps for year-round comfort, memory-foam beds with multiple spaces to gather. After the slopes or a summer hike, slip into the 6-person hot tub set inside our screened gazebo—a guest favorite for starry nights and bug-free dinners. Inside, unwind by the cast-iron gas stove, host big family meals or head to the second lounge/TV room for games, movies, and kid hangouts. Cooking is easy in the fully equipped kitchen (granite island, quality cookware, waffle maker, blender, bakeware). Sleep comes easy across three levels: a main-floor bedroom with adjacent full bath; an upstairs loft with two queen beds and game table; and a spacious lower-level bunk + queen suite with a memory-foam sleeper and laundry room. Step outside to the covered porch with adirondack chairs, a fire pit out back with benches, and propane grill. Thoughtful extras: 20 kW whole-home generator for peace of mind, fast Wi-Fi, and a curated selection of family games, DVDs, and video games for cozy nights in. Close to skiing, golf, kayaking, leaf-peeping, swimming holes, and trailheads—the perfect base for a Maine mountain getaway.

Enjoyed a great winter long weekend at Black Mountain with friends. Cabin is fantastic! Kitchen is well supplied, propane stove is instant coziness, and a Hot Tub after a day of skiing or being out in the cold just cannot be beat!
There are resorts that could take lessons from these hosts. From the minute you step into the door, you can tell they take your stay very seriously. There was local snacks which were well enjoyed during some spirited card games on the large dining table, a jar of hand and foot warmers which consider the temp last week would have come in very handy if we had forgotten ours, a nice gas stove to cuddle up next to when the lifts are on wind hold, a playstation for when the lifts are on wind hold, fun booked...for when the lifts are on wind hold :)It is just details like an espresso maker, fluffy soft bathroom towels, and even floss picks in the bathroom that you can tell they want you to be comfortable. They also didn't commit the sin of so many other hosts...every mattress is high quality and nice to sleep on with two different types of pillows to make sure you have something that fits your sleep preference. A few things I would bring, a robe and outdoor slippers for the much appreciated hot tub as it is a very short, but sometimes cold and icy walk to the Gazebo and when it is negative digits out, the faster you can get in and out of the better. The only other thing I would consider is a white noise maker as it is a cabin and there isn't much soundproofing between the walls or floors, so if you are in a group that has different sleep schedules, this will help.I did leave behind a pair of race skis, and the hosts were right on top of it going the extra mile(s) to help.
