The room was nothing like the pictures—very small, quite ugly, and very basic. I was in Berlin for the marathon, and the location was amazing. The hotel is only a few steps away from the 35th kilometer mark, which was perfect for my family to cheer me on. The surrounding area has plenty of great restaurants and shopping. Parking, however, was not ideal—expensive and extremely tight. If you have a compact car, you’ll be fine, but anything larger will be difficult.

The hotel is in a busy touristic area, and you have many dining and shopping options and excellent transport links. It was a bit loud on Friday night, but otherwise it's pretty quiet and feels safe. I am quite fit, but I struggled to get to the room with my suitcase - there's a lot of stairs, and the last bit is a winding staircase - I thought I'd fall. I wonder if they had any accidents, I was certainly on the verge of falling. I didn't use breakfast either, as I found the price a bit high compared to what you can get elsewhere. The room was small but clean, and the bathroom was great, with a good powerful shower. To sum up, it was ok, but the only way I would go there again is if I travel very very light.

It's a pretty good hotel. The only downsides are the stairs to access the fifth floor and the internet, which was a bit slow. But for the price, it is an incredible value.

Loved this property and will definitely stay here again! The room was comfortable, in the middle of city with easy access to restaurants, public transportation and stores. Keep in mind there are no Air Conditioners in the room la but they have fan and opening the windows will give you a nice breeze. Loved this property!

It was a nice stay. Good breakfast. The room was of decent size. The bathroom was very clean. The management was not so good because we booked two rooms and they first gave it on two different floors and upon request, they changed it to the same 2nd floor but very far away. An another issue was that the hotel does not have a proper lift system, meaning if you were given a room on the 5th floor, it would be difficult to carry big luggage to the 5th floor.

Location and area good but pillows are not

Area of the hotel is really good. That is the best part about the hotel. The room was clean and room service staff was helpful. The building is old bur there is an elevator which is an advantage. The bed and especially pillows were not comfortable. No air conditioner in the room. If your trip is not in summer then this is no problem because there is plenty of windows to keep your room cool. Overall it was a good experience.

The Hotel was not bad but it was not clean and the internet was awful, the housekeeping did not wash the glass and teacup and just put the dirty ones back every day, when I first arrived at the hotel the sheets were not cleaned and I asked them to change it, The reception and Handy man were polite and tried to all their best to make us comfortable. the internet speed was very bad and disconnected so many times. the location was wonderful and near to every corner of berlin.

During my stay, the hotel's fire alarm went off and all guests had to evacuate. A fire engine immediately arrived and an investigation began. As the evacuation order was gradually lifted, I tried to return to my room, but was stopped by hotel staff who told me, ``Your floor is still under investigation.'' At that time, I was deeply moved. The hotel staff remembers which floor the guests are staying on. After that, there were no problems and I was able to return to my room. It was a very memorable night, but the fire alarm was working properly, which is proof that the hotel's facilities are solid.

Lots of stairs and a back packer vibe

Be warned, we should have realized this in the name "Upper room hotel", that there are lots of stairs to climb. There is an elevator but you have to climb a steep set of stairs to get to the elevator and then another set of stairs to get to the reception area, which is on the 4th floor then our room was on the 5th floor, which was only accessible by a spiral staircase that was almost impossible to navigate with luggage. Location was great and room was fairly nice but the long trek up creaky stairs to get to the room kind of ruined the experience. I wouldn't stay there again.

Great, but lacking aircon (maybe in other rooms?)

Plus: Great location, room was very clean, had a desk and a small fridge, internet worked (a bit slow), wasn't that noisy, tall rooms, good service, zero problems. Had also water boiler and a tea cup and a glass, free shower gel. Could come and go as I pleased. REWE and Lidl around 15-20 minutes walk away. Minus: Old and not perfectly maintained building, some staff didn't speak much English, no bidet shower, and no aircon - during +32C days the room was even hotter and could not keep the window open in the nights due to the noise from outside so most of the days I woke up sweating. At least I was able to sleep. Not the best place to stay during hot summer. Room was quite small. Easy to take a train or two to the airport. -1 point from lack of aircon, -0.5 points from the lack of bidet shower. Still I'd definitely stay here again, but not during summer when it's hot.
Fortunately I had thick curtains to block the light during evenings. Tried to sleep the window open for cooler air, but too much noise from outside.
Bed was quite nice, not too hard, not too soft.
Keeping them pidgeons away, I guess
