About this property

Character cottage (18c) on the edge of historic Belper

  • This charming 2 bedroom stone cottage was built circa 1790 and retains many original features. The ground floor comprises 2 spacious living rooms (4m x 4m). Adjacent to the kitchen is a lounge with log burner and the other is a lounge/dining room with the TV including a double sofa bed. The cottage is very close to the historic cotton mill / museum and river gardens within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site. Belper's award winning high street is a 15 minute walk away and just down the road is the Talbot (17c) restaurant / bar and the Tum Yum Thai Restaurant (basement of the early 19c North Mill) just over the bridge and mill weir. Walks from the river lead up to the Chevin overlooking Belper in one direction and the river gardens and nature reserve in the other.
The Derbyshire Dales and Peak District are a short drive away; local attractions are Cromford (Arkwright’s Mill museum, canal walks, etc.), Arkwright’s Masson Mill (discount shopping), Matlock Bath (cable car, gardens, etc.), Middleton Top (High Peak Trail) and a multitude of beautiful villages and walks.
The city of Derby with its Cathedral, Silk Mill, railway Round House and shopping areas, both ancient and modern, is 9 miles to the south. If you like a little more action Alton Towers is just 20 miles away - 35min drive.
