We stayed at The Holly House while in the area for our granddaughter’s High School graduation. The house was perfect for our stay. Lots of space and the bed was very comfortable. Hosts were wonderful to work with, also. Hope to stay here again next time we’re in the area.

Tons of character

The Holly House is oozing with character. The owners have captured the old charm while updating everything to modern expectations. The home was comfortable in every way. It's in a quiet, suburban neighborhood, but not too far from everything. The owners were very responsive to questions and cared for us out immediately. The home is a little quirky, but that made it all the more enjoyable to us.

Great place!

While visiting St. Louis, this cute and cozy house made me not want to leave. It was exactly as described and looks even better in person! Quiet Neighborhood, got everywhere we needed to go all around St. Louis in 25 minutes or less. Great place to come back to after a long day of activities. Even had stuff to do inside! Showers were good, beds were great!! My daughter changed her mind on coming with us, but she would have LOVED the kid room.. Especially the TV in there lol

Listing was clear. There was never any need to contact the host. Kitchen amenities were great: Aluminum foil & plastic wrap were provided as well as other kitchen essentials' often forgotten by other home owners. The only VERY small issues were no hooks to hang towels to dry or for bathrobes. And the 2nd bathroom was much smaller than any I have ever seen, but functional. However, the bathroom contained all of the items as promised..lots of soaps & shampoos. The towels were WONDERFUL. Parking was ample for 2-3 cars. Great Jamaican restaurant just up the street. And the location was near downtown St. Louis making it a reasonably short drive to our show at the Americas Convention Center. Quiet neighborhood & I would stay here again!

To be clear, Holly House suited my needs. I needed a place to stay for a family reunion and a base for preparing meals for family gathered elsewhere. The home has been expanded over the years, which adds to its charm. It was comfortable, felt safe, the beds were good, and it was conveniently located. The neighborhood was also great for morning walks. The older parts of the house have a classic, mid-century feel to them which I know is typical for the area, and I don't mind. That said, the property needs attention. While its age isn't an issue, deferred maintenance is. Paint is chipped, the house is musty, and the large bathroom has obvious water damage, peeling paint, and a tub that needs reglazing and a deep cleaning. Some of the exterior windows were so dirty that I kept the curtains closed. The kitchen also lacked several basic items common in vacation rentals, including a whisk, mixing bowls, and more than one dish towel. The pop-up lid to the trashcan doesn't close. The backyard could use some upkeep, and the view from the rear bedroom includes a dilapidated garage with "Do Not Enter" signs. None of these were issues to call the owners about during my stay, as they reflect longer-term maintenance. The house met my needs, but its overall condition was disappointing. I'm not particularly fussy about where I stay, yet I will likely choose another property when I return to Belleville next year.
