great location for NAMoC
Dragon hostel is quiet and clean with great access to the National Art Museum (NAMoC) and Beihei park. My room was simple, had good aircon, and a good bed. There is no road noise and the location is very quiet. easy access to Dongsi Metro station. The wifi is slow and intermittent but otherwise still useful. the staff are always available and speak english. I would stay again given the location.

Overall good for the price.
Limited English speaking staff, be prepared for that. Also, stuff beds and decent food. You won't die here and it has a certain charm for sure, but It would not be my first choice.

Don't go during Spring Festival
On a normal day the price is okay, but during new years they almost double the prices, and this hostel is not worth that inflated price. The food isn't bad, it's just disappointing. You order some spaghetti and tuna, and that is what you get. Cooked spaghetti with some canned tuna on top, no sauces or anything. Just a tiny splash of ketchup on the side. For breakfast you get a hasbrown the size of a 1 RMB coin. Rooms are nothing extraordinary, the double rooms are just two single beds pushed together. The area around the hostel doesn't have anything special either, except a roast duck place. The subway is pretty central, you can easily get anywhere from there. So, on a normal day, go for it. It's relatively cheap and central. Just don't go after the prices are inflated.

Small cosy hostel
Stayed 7 nights. It is a bit inside from main road and may be difficult to find. Good location. Best part is that reception staff were good at English, which is very uncommon here.

Staff helpful - cleanliness poor
The staff were helpful when asked for help. However the rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny - you can't even sit on the toilet seat properly because the roof is very low. The bathroom smells and there is a lot of damp and dust in the bedroom area. Beds not that comfy either. Communal areas are a reasonable size. The hostel also has a good selection of tours you can take.

O.k for a Hostel
Hard to find hostel as construction obscuring entrance. Dongsi metro Exit East a very short walk from hostel. Area around hostel interesting, nice eating places and quite a few hutongs. Despite construction right beside hostel it did not affect our stay. Airconditioning unit in room noisy but very effective. Had breakfast which was o.k. Hostel is situated close to busy shopping area and can easily walk to Tienanmen Square. Room is adequate for a hostel. The location is really good for sightseeing.

Cozy and Friendly
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (except for one). The location is about a 5 minute walk from the subway, but was hard to find. Tours are a good option for those too lazy to figure things out for themselves.

Cheap accommodations; slow internet
A solid, low-cost hostel. I booked Happy Dragon because of the low price. It was worth what I paid for it. The one gripe I had was that the "high speed internet" it boasts is quite slow, some webpages hanging before they would load. That may in part be due to the same restrictions on internet flow that plague all of China.

Good location, quirky hostel
Room is a bit shabby. Ensuite bath is a sink and toilet that warns you not to flush toilet paper. The "shower" is a spray handle mounted on the wall with just a drain in the floor, and had lots of tiny bugs around it. Windowless room, unless you count the window to the corridor. Location is great and staff are friendly and speak very good English for China.
