Don't stay here if you want all mod cons, nothing broken, nothing shabby, a proper wardrobe, lots of privacy. Do stay here if you want reasonable comfort, the chance to see a courtyard hotel in a Beijing hutong where real people live, and a lovely friendly landlady, Sarah, who will help efficiently with things like tickets and taxis.
Staff was very very nice and very eager to help, they really go the extra mile for you.
The room was clean and had a big comfy bed.
Obviously it's a value for money , don't expect the Ritz.
But for the price you pay you get a comfy, clean place with a very accommodating staff.
Is it exquisite? No. Is it quaint, comfortable, and local? Yes! I loved my stay. You get a real feel for the culture, the hutongs, and the fabric of Chinese life. Unbelievably convenient to a thriving part of the city, right around the corner from an amazing noodle house, and owned by a young and beautiful family. The room was a good size, the ac worked fine, hot water aplenty, the bed super comfortable I stayed in the room that is the featured picture). Those expecting great amenities and catered comfort should steer clear. Those wanting to experience day-to-day life and are okay with less than perfect accommodations will feel right at home. I never felt unsafe. Sarah's English was more than adequate. My only concern is that the tea pot was not cleaned and I had to scrub it out before morning tea. Other than that, I have no complaints. I'd stay there again in a heart beat.
It’s a family run hotel. Nice people. Be sure to get the directions before you go there. Even local drivers don’t know the place. Close to Tongluoguxiang, Gulou, Gongwangfu etc. Convinient to bus stop.

Small but sufficient
Overall, a nice cozy place and the room is clean and comfortable. It is quite small as we booked the standard room but sufficient for us since we were out most of the time. There were not much walking space if we opened 2 big luggage at the same time.
The water heater worked well. However, you won't be able to adjust the room heater temperature so some nights were really cold for me as the temperature fell to 0 or below 0.
There were free mineral water bottles which is a plus point and owners were friendly and waited for us as we arrived past midnight.
