"The older gentleman was very slow at check in but was very nice. The toilet was very old and warped. The ice from the ice machine smelled and there was rust underneath. Seems like the place needs to be updated. "

"I got there as soon as I walked in. I noticed there was still trash in the trash from the people before me, and then I went to the bathroom and there was poop on the side of the toilet, and I looked in the shower and whoever was in there last hand left their hair all over it so it appeared that they just made the bed and left it and didn’t clean then to add to it in the middle of the night, a beeping was going off and didn’t stop until 8:30 in the morning called the front desk several times got no response went down there got no response. Needless to say I did not sleep and was very displeased. I did talk to the front desk person in the morning and they told me to go to the website that I made the purchase for the room and request a refund. She was very helpful in that respect."

"I'll start off with the positives: - The greeter, who I presume was the owner, was kind and allowed me to start my check-in early (with a fee, but that was to be expected). - The property, despite having the layout of a motel, looked very nice. And the moment I stepped into my room, it felt I was in a high-class hotel. - Most (not all, but I'll get to that in the negatives) amenities were provided. - The price, compared to what else I was finding in the area, was relatively inexpensive. And now for the negatives: - A very minor one, but tissues would be a nice amenity to have had in the room. - The location is close to the highway. Probably great for finding business from weary travelers, but unideal for morning-sleepers like I. - The chairs in the room, though looking nice, felt cheaply made. I heard the one I sat at cracking as I sat, and I feared it might break underneath me."

"First the positives: The location was ideal. The house was well stocked. We didn't cook but the kitchen was exceptionally equipped. The house felt like a treehouse. The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were nice.The negatives: We arrived to find the house very stuffy (almost 80 degrees in the main living area) without a way to adjust the temperature. I texted the host and the temperature was adjusted. We didn't appreciate not being able to control the temperature (it was freezing the rest of the stay). My husband and I stayed in the basement room. The room, hallway, and bathroom had 10 bugs scattered throughout. The bathroom smelled like sewer and was very muggy. The host offered to send the cleaning lady the next day, but we didn’t think it was necessary since my husband just cleaned up the bugs and the rest of the house was clean. Throughout the weekend, we realized that the bugs were coming out of the shower drain, it was disgusting! We also discovered that the back door didn't bolt. The host did not seem to care when I brought this up. He did have excuses for the other concerns and actually blamed me for not telling him sooner our time of arrival. We arrived 5 hours AFTER the standard arrival time of 3PM. I gave him that info as soon as I could. The host offered us a full refund if we checked out that day and said “it would be in both our best interest if we avoided leaving a mutual review”. I stopped texting him and we stayed until our original check-out time. "

"Everyone in my family loved the White Gate Farm Inn! The owner and host, Pauline, greeted my daughter warmly upon arrival so check in was flawless. The rooms were all clean, comfortable and well appointed. The shower pressure was plentiful with plenty of hot water. These are the basics of what makes for a great stay. In addition however, the very large kitchen was of great use in preparing our holiday meal and the lovely and large sitting and dining room made for cozy gathering spaces. We enjoyed family chats by the fire, strolls on the grounds to visit the chickens and rapid fire games of backgammon. On Saturday we shopped for savory and sweet treats in the charming little shop. My family all agreed that we had found a true gem. "
