We really enjoyed the log house, the view, the decks, the layout.
And it is a beautiful area. It is unseasonably warm, especially in the mountains, so the ceiling fans were very helpful.

Our family had the best time this last week. We loved the house and the area. The driveway was definitely a little nerve wracking the first time up. Y’all have a great place. So peaceful. Thanks again

Overall a great stay. Cabin is very large with several identical bedrooms and two comfortable living areas. Cabin was well stocked with kitchen equipment, towels, etc. Two large decks, with an amazing view of the valley through a gap in the trees. At the very top of the ridge within Forest Lakes. Would definitely recommend.

Driveway is a bit steep and challenging to drive up while covered with snow. Definitely will need a 4x4 (with snow chains after fresh snowfall) to park at the house. Overall we were very satisfied with the cabin especially the quick response from the property owner regarding any questions that we had - usually within minutes. The views from the cabin are outstanding.

My group of 12 friends visited during the summertime. I'm normally wary of hosting type places when traveling, but Mike was so friendly and eager to answer any questions I had. He was accommodating during our calls/texts, gave recommendations on nearby attractions, and gave very clear instructions. The property is a 40 minute drive from Durango with beautiful views. The driveway is kinda hectic due to steep slopes, but manageable. The property itself is gorgeous, amazing views no matter where you look. There's a clearing a bit up the way that was perfect for exercising or just chilling. Between the beds and couches, there was plenty of space for our group of 12 to sleep. Also, plenty of towels. Even with 12 of us, we never ran out. Overall, if I could give 6/5 stars, I would.

STUNNING!! CLEAN!! This property is amazing. Not only is this a beautiful cabin/home, the views are breathtaking as well. This was our first family vacation with kids and grandkids. Everyone was more than pleased with their accommodations, and it set the tone of a great vacation.
You literally want for nothing at this property. Comfy beds, stocked kitchen (almost every pan and small appliance you could need), quality linens and towels. All the things that remind you of home away from home.
Michael Mayfield is a dream to do business with. I didn't have many questions, but he was very quick to respond to the few I had.
My son asked if we could come back for a winter staycation at this property......He has me thinking!!

From start to finish, Michael has been great to work with. He is easily accessible, more than accommodating to answer any and all questions no matter how minor. This cabin is everything and more than the pictures describe. There were 11 of us and it more than accommodated everyone, giving each group their own private living quarters (restrooms & bedrooms), along with washer / dryer; an upstairs and downstairs deck; family room and kitchen, game room downstairs. We had to ask a neighbor help us get our car unstuck and was more than happy to help. His name is Vic and you drive passed their house on the way to the cabin. You feel secluded but also feel like you’re in a community. Everything about this cabin made our trip the best. They’ve thought of everything!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Was disappointed to not be able to have a campfire, but I understand with being safe to other houses close-by.

We had a great time in this log cabin. The place was secluded and quiet. Perfect for our family. Only issue was the garbage taking down the hill. You need to watch the posted hours to dump the trash because they close early, but other than that would definitely recommend.

My family all loved staying in this beautiful cabin. It was perfectly located to feel out in the country but close enough to town to easily access whatever we needed. The cabin is large with multiple seating areas and decks. Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic cabin if you're looking for a comfortable mountain retreat with plenty of room for outside activities. The cabin has plenty of room for larger parties, and the availability of 3 full bathrooms (one on each floor) makes each level of the cabin feel like a separate suite. Outside, in addition to the large decks, there is a large area on the property that is great for outdoor games or setting up a hammock between trees. This extra outdoor space really makes the cabin feel like more of a retreat. It IS a steep driveway at the top of a very winding dirt road (you gain 1000ft elevation from the neighborhood entrance). No problem in the summer, but it could be a challenge in the snow. Otherwise, the only disappointment was that no fires were allowed at the property (neighborhood rules), so you'll have to trek elsewhere to have a campfire and smores.

We took our family to Colorado for vacation and stayed here for a week. The log home is beautiful and perfect for a large family. We had everything we needed! The views are amazing and if you love the outdoors this is the place for you, we hiked every day. We were grateful we had SUV's rented, the driveway required them.

Cabin comfortably fit my large family and had everything needed for our stay. The location was perfect for us with no other cabins close by to enjoy the quietness of the mountain. The driveway seemed steep but we were able to get up in our 2wd SUV without problem and the drive from the main road up to the cabin had plenty of deer for an added bonus.

This property worked great as a gathering point for a large family. Mike was very responsive to all our needs, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The ride up the driveway was interesting, as previously reported, but always successfully negotiated by our group. We particularly enjoyed the deer every evening.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Michael Mayfield's log home with our two dogs. The house was very spacious, welcoming and perfectly laid out to accommodate families of all sizes. We spent a lot of time in the large upper deck area, enjoying the incredible views of the mountains throughout the entire day. The weather could not have been more perfect: sunny afternoons followed by cool and refreshing evenings. We even enjoyed dinners fresh from the grill outside almost every night. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was open to the living area, which made cooking a pleasure. We made fires in their wood burning stove as there was lots of firewood available and it made our evenings very cozy. The downstairs had a second large living area with plenty of room for games for the whole family. The owner was very accommodating and promptly answered any questions we had. We will definitely be back and give it a five star rating!

Beautiful log home fully equipped with all the amnesties you could need. Our party of 9 fit comfortably with plenty of room for us all. The owner Mike was more than helpful even offering suggestions of things to do nearby. We especially enjoyed the large deck with breathtaking views and lots of hummingbirds to watch. The driveway was not an issue for us but we all drove SUV’s. The only drawback to this cabin would be it’s proximity to Durango. We spent alot of time in the car.

We loved this place. Roomy and had a beautiful view. The driveway is a bit steep but we were able to get up it and plenty of room for 3-4 cars. The area is really nice and we enjoyed river rafting and horseback riding. Owner, Mike, was very responsive regarding our stay.
