A friendly welcome, large room and bathroom with good wifi and bus stop outside for access into town. The complimentary drink in the bar was a bonus.

The staff were lovely and friendly welcoming us after our long drive and an excellent night in the bar. I loved the feel of the hotel old world decor and home comforts

Has character, just needs a bit of a room refresh

The pub has a lot of character, and the interior of the downstairs is very nice. The free drink on arrival is also a nice touch. The room was okay though the mattress was very old, and the toilet/shower dripped all night. We had a room facing out into the courtyard and it was pretty noisy until 1/2am. It was good for one night.

Royal Hotel /Barrow-In-Furness

My experience here is not a great one but satisfactory! Clean but the mattress and pillows very old,not comfortable!. In bathroom except toilet paper roll, nothing not even a small hand soap. For 3 days nobody check the room,to don't mention that garbage disposal wasn't changed! Breakfast supposed to be served for free but due to some circumstances, wasn't! It could've be nice to be replaced with a coffee,a croissant,a fruit at least!

Sunday break in Barrow in Furness

The room was a little cramped with a small bathroom, but the value for money more than outweighed those concerns. The bar area is amazing with enough books to challenge a lot of rural libraries. Needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate it. The area was really quiet with no discernible traffic sounds and spotlessly clean. The only downside was no breakfast because the chef was in isolation due to covid but that was refunded so only the food was lost. Lovely staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Very happy to go again

Perfection

I was made very welcome by the landlady and her staff, very helpful. room was more than excellent, with all the facilities necessary, and comfortable.. As i was en-route to Furness Generaal the next day,for an operation, it was a shame i could n't have the breakfast ! I will stay there again, prior to the next op, and i also intend popping back in to see them as well, and have lunch there. Perfect

Industrial Barrow

I stayed in The Royal Hotel for a one night business trip. The Hotel is in need of a lot of refurbishment. It is more of a pub than an hotel. When I arrived the bar was in full swing, and this continued all evening. The hotel is a long walk into town and is located in a run down/industrial area. The room was ok, but not very clean. The breakfast was cold and they had no eggs. I would not return.

Simply awful

Don’t know where they got the three stars from. Room was terrible, service did the job but wasn’t up to much. Was there on business and took the wife, I felt terrible for her. I’ve spent twelve years in the navy and slept in some terrible places.......this was the worst.

Good basic hotel

The hotel is a good standard for the price range and the breakfast is excellent. The staff are also friendly and helpful. The area itself is somewhat down at heel in Barrow but if you are looking for reasonably priced accomadation it will suit.

お湯が、全く使えず、シャワーも、断念。朝になっても、変わらず、フロントにクレ-ム。どうも、元から切っていた感じ。ワ-ルドカップで、忘れてたのかな。チェックアウト時、オ-ナ-？か、謝ってくれ、宿泊費、返すと言ってたけど、そこまでは、と思い、半額になる予定、チェック必要だが、フロントの人がしっかり、報告して、あとの対応が、まともな点は、合格、あとは、施設自体、かなり、時代と、この地域全体的に、不景気な感じもして、なんとか、出来ないのか、と思った。

Tired but most welcoming

The Royal Hotel was in the back end of Barrow and parking was difficult, although when I arrived was welcomed with a drink of my choosing and even the customer offered to take my bags to the room their are no lifts, it looks a little run down but the room was Quiet and modern and had a lovely nights sleep. Breakfast was spot on I Had smocked haddock with poached eggs and fruit to take with you. Overall apart from the looks its a good place to stay

Handy place to dtay

I found the overall experience was a positive one, there was a small issue with parking however this was resolved quickly. Thanks to the staff for looking after me and I would stay there again.

Decent little hotel

The outside of the hotel looks a little run down, but this is no worse than the rest of the area, which is in the middle of a mixed industrial/residential area. Breakfast is excellent with a wide range of cereals and choice of cooked items. Coffee cups are a little small but no different from other hotels I have stayed in.Rooms are generally very clean and tidy and the r9om 8 was in was at the back of the hotel. I could only pick up the WiFi behind the door which was not so good. Overall the hotel is reasonable and I will stay there again

Cheap but for a reason

A contractors hotel serving the many contactors working at the Shipyard. Very poor condition throughout. Clean room, good breakfast and pleasant front of house but overall very "rough"

Nice hotel but could do with improvement

The staff were very friendly and the room was a good size. The breakfast was really good. The price was reasonable. However the hotel was a bit away from town and shops. The room was ok but the bathroom had mould and the shower door was was not in alignment and was leaking. Overall nice hotel but could do with some improvement.

Excellent dog friendly hotek

Excellent value for money hotel, dog friendly and the staff go out their way to help you. Complementary drinks on arrival and although no meals over the weekend plenty of alternatives near by.

Clean and reasonably comfortable

What can I say, room was reasonably comfortable. I was unable to get the shower to stay at a reasonable temperature but was adequate to get clean and sober up in the morning. Hotel is in the middle of a residential area within a large industrial area but don't let this put you off as it was reasonable quiet. Breakfast was good, with a good selection of cereals and the full English breakfast was good. There are other breakfast options but I didn't try those. The staff were friendly and helpful when required. I would be quite happy to stay here again if I need to. The bed was comfortable but a little small. Wi-Fi was OK on the first night but then disappeared at 9am on the second morning. TV was a bit small but then again I have a 40" in my bedroom at home
