"We loved our stay at mallard Lodge and would definitely recommend. The weather was awful but expected in January but it didn't stop the kids fun. Lots of places to see. Great walks. Was wonderful to return to a warm, cosy lodge and a relaxing dip in the hot tub. Not fantastic TV reception or WiFi but we were there to escape all that. Anything we needed help with, selina was only a call away. We are looking forward to visiting again. X"

"We all had the most wonderful New Year stay at Curlew Lodge, it was spotless with some lovely personal touches such as fresh bread, eggs, butter & a chocolate cake that was delicious! "We had a lovely stay at Slaley Hall. The building, grounds and setting are beautiful. Our spacious room had a huge picture window overlooking the golf course, a large comfortable bed and good amenities. The complimentary minibar was a lovely touch. The food was excellent. Breakfast had a great range of cooked and continental choices and our evening meals were every bit as good, if not better. The bar staff were always friendly, smiling and chatty, despite the bar appearing understaffed at times. There were some housekeeping issues. The sofa was stained, the iron needed cleaning before use and glasses left in our room on day two hadn’t been cleaned properly, with lipstick still visible on one rim. Restaurant service was our main disappointment. On one occasion I waited while two staff continued discussing which tables they would serve before acknowledging me. On our final evening, around five staff were talking together while we waited to be seated. We could hear them discussing which guests had or hadn’t tipped, including guests who had experienced problems with their stays. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional. These issues didn’t spoil what was otherwise a really enjoyable stay. We’d happily return, but greater attention to housekeeping and restaurant service would make a very good stay an excellent one."

We were at a wedding close by so only needed the hotel to sleep at, the hotel is a bit in need of a re-furb but very nice staff and the room was fresh and comfortable. The room was clean, bedding and bed were comfortable we did not eat as arrived at 3 dropped bags and headed to wedding.left at 8 in morning Would stay again as we both said apart from corridors and general impression it was a nice nights sleep Plenty parking and nice area for a morning walk"
