Calm area but easy to go other town such as Port Louis or Curepipe etc,. Train station, boulangerie(napolitaine available!), briyani shop(tooo much for a single touirst!), convenience store nearby. And what I loved most is the host. She warmly welcomed me and took care of me. I miss her :')"

Ocean’s Creek Beach Hotel Mauritius

10/10 Excellent

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed in La Pirogue, Wolmer Mauritius as a family for 4 nights. Our stay was excellent and we found the resort exactly in the same condition as seen in the pictures. While there was a bit of confusion in the airport taxi pick up, but i wouldn't take away a single credit from this resort, its excellent amenities, courteous staff, and good food. The hospitality is top class, and the best part is that you can spend days in the resort with your family as they have so many things to do. La Pirogue made our vacation really memorable, and we would definitely stay if we returned to Mauritius again."

Le Meridien Ile Maurice

8/10 Good

"We only had a short stay and didn’t get to use all the facilities to hand. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was that we were unable to use the adult only pool due to not booking in to the Nivarna area considering that the pool area was only 50% occupancy. I do think this policy needs to be reviewed."

OUTRIGGER Mauritius Beach Resort

10/10 Excellent

"From the moment we arrived to the time we left we couldnt have been more happy. Never having spent time in an all inclusive resort before, we couldn't belive how relaxed we became. The staff were fantastic especially the restaurant staff, and the food choice we were able to feed the kids without complaints. The hotel is rough around the edges but nothing impacted on our time. We come to Mauritius every two years and all the family have said they would return to the outrigger. Would i recommend this hotel, if you want absolute luxury and staff standing over your every move, no. But if you want a relaxed, calm, friendly hotel, that offers great value, great staff, absolutely."

Le Jadis Beach Resort & Wellness - Managed by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts

8/10 Good

"The room was very clean, decent amenities including a bar service, coffee, tea. The Air conditioning worked perfectly. However the toilet bowl could be better sanitized with disinfectant, some towels were still damp but enough were provided including for the beach. The food was fair with a good breakfast buffet. Beach access and amenities were excellent. The staff were helpful but there were many trainees and few seasoned staff. Overall it was a very comfortable stay. The promised bottle of wine per night never materialized."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Bambous?

The best area to stay in Bambous is generally closer to the coast, particularly around Flic en Flac, which offers the most visitor amenities and convenient access to the beach.

Flic en Flac is the main tourist hub on the west coast, known for its long stretch of white sand beach and clear waters. The main coastal road, Wolmar, runs parallel to the beach and is lined with various hotels, restaurants, and shops. It's a relaxed area, great for enjoying the sea and sun.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find Flic en Flac ideal. The area offers opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, and enjoying sunsets over the ocean. Many hotels here provide direct beach access and a range of facilities for a comfortable stay.

Families will also appreciate Flic en Flac due to the calm waters suitable for children and the availability of family-friendly resorts.

When is the best time to go to Bambous?

The best time to go to Bambous, and indeed Mauritius as a whole, is during the dry season, which runs from May to December.

This period avoids the high humidity and heavy rainfall of the summer months (January to April), offering more consistently clear skies and pleasant temperatures. You'll find it comfortable for exploring the island's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities.

For those looking to enjoy the island's beaches and water sports, the months of September to November are particularly good. The sea temperatures are warm, and the winds are generally calmer, making it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and diving. It's also a popular time for sailing and deep-sea fishing.

If you're interested in hiking and exploring the national parks, such as the Black River Gorges National Park which is relatively close to Bambous, then May to August is an excellent choice. The cooler temperatures make walking more enjoyable, and the landscape is lush after the summer rains.
