YOTEL Glasgow

10/10 Excellent

"Great compact little room with plenty of space for the three of us. Very clean and close to everything."

Maldron Hotel Glasgow City

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel is in a fantastic location, right next to Buchanan Bus Station, making it extremely convenient for transport links and city centre venues. The room was of a very high standard, with a very comfortable bed and complimentary amenities, including bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits. The room was also well equipped with a safe, iron and hairdryer. The bathroom was excellent, and the shower was particularly good. Despite being located on the 11th floor, the lift was rapid, smooth and silent. Check-in and check-out can be done on-line with room keys collected from a self service portal in the hotel reception area. This was very useful as a large group arrived at the same time as me. I collected my room key without having to stand in a lengthy queue. The buffet breakfast offered a wide selection of options, all of which were of good quality. My only observation is that there was no guest information provided in the room. A simple information booklet or guide would have been useful, covering the hotel’s facilities, dining options and serving times, Wi-Fi access, and instructions for operating the television and air conditioning. Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay. The excellent location, high standard of accommodation, comfortable bed and quality breakfast made for a very positive experience. Providing some basic guest information in the room would be a useful finishing touch to an otherwise excellent stay."

Leonardo Royal Hotel Glasgow

10/10 Excellent

"First time we have used this particular hotel in Glasgow but certainly will not be the last. From our first contact with staff at reception to the checkout everyone was so friendly and genuinely wanted us to have a nice stay there. The room was lovely with a super king and the decor, both in the bedroom and the bathroom, was modern and bright. Our room had a side view of the Clyde which was great, as it was a bright sunny day. Great central location and nearby discounted parking was easy to access. Thank you Leonardo !"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Balloch?

The best area to stay in Balloch is the village centre, particularly around Balloch Road and the Loch Lomond Shores complex.

This area is the heart of Balloch, offering direct access to the southern end of Loch Lomond. It's very walkable, with the River Leven flowing through it, connecting the loch to the Clyde. You'll find a good selection of shops, eateries, and visitor attractions concentrated along Balloch Road and within the Loch Lomond Shores development.

For families, this area is ideal due to its convenience and range of activities. The Loch Lomond Shores complex provides plenty to do, from boat trips on the loch to the Sea Life Aquarium, and there are often family-friendly events. The large park areas near the lochside are great for children to play.

Couples looking for a relaxing break will also appreciate the village centre. You can enjoy strolls along the loch, dine at local restaurants, and easily access boat tours for a scenic experience.

When is the best time to go to Balloch?

The best time to go to Balloch is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is generally pleasant, with milder temperatures and less rainfall than the peak summer months. You'll find the natural beauty of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park particularly striking, with spring blossoms or the vibrant colours of autumn foliage providing a beautiful backdrop for walks and boat trips. It's also a good time to avoid the busiest crowds of July and August, allowing for a more relaxed visit to popular attractions like Loch Lomond Shores and the Maid of the Loch.

For those planning outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, the slightly cooler temperatures and fewer midges make these seasons ideal.
