Really nice hotel centrally located and walkable to event venues, restaurants. Room is spacious and well appointed. Great shower, comfy bed. Brimstone is great for drinks. Private party occupying the Prairie lounge but looks cool.

We love history and staying in an old historic hotel is always a treat. The Farmacy Restaurant for breakfast was great. The Brimstone Restaurant serves great food but the music was way too loud. Room was nice but finishes are starting to look dated. all in all, a good experience.

The hotel itself is really great! I could totally see this being a perfect spot for couples. The entrance is enchanting, and the in-building cafes and restaurants are a huge plus. The rooms themselves are also spacious, clean, and well-designed. I'm glad I chose to stay here while I was travelling to Bakersfield. One thing I would note for future travelers: it is valet parking ONLY, and it costs $15 a day. I don't feel super comfortable doing valet (I'd much rather have access to my keys at all times) but I caved and did it anyways because there is very very limited overnight parking allowed in downtown. Which, in my opinion, is weird considering its a bit of a ghost town. Regardless, the valet workers were super helpful, were available 24/7 and took good care of my car :)

Beautiful Art Deco hotel built in the 1920’s. However, due to the age and location of the hotel it lacks some modern day convenience things that many travelers have come to appreciate and expect when traveling. Items like a functional Wi-Fi, pool and or hot tub, vending machines and sundries store where items can be purchased. I found none of these items available during my recent visit. Additionally there was no airports shuttle, no Uber or Lyft service available. Hotel staff stated the area was not considered to be safe to walk around, even 2 blocks to visit local cafe. Not much info available from hotel about places to go around hotel, or any hotel amenities. Hotel has 3 restaurants, but no menu in rooms, 2 were closed during the stay, and the roof top bar was closed and only open during summer. Beautiful place, but not likely to be back at least without tteaspprt

I stay here often for business and basically hybernate at the hotel. I usually eat breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food just isn't quite as good as it used to be. They were out of a lot of items on the menu as well. The room and service are excellent. If it weren't for the food I would have give 5 stars

Great place in Downtown Bakersfield
Our stay here was wonderful. The customer service was really great whether it was at the front desk or the bar, we were taken care of. There was a bottle of champagne in the room on ice and we also received a free drink from the bar too. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The water was nice and hot and the soaps were really nice. The location was great for walking to local bars and venues. Would definitely stay here again.
