Such a wonderful place!
Our stay was absolutely phenomenal! The price was very doable for the days that we were there, and we were only a 10-15 minute walk from Avignon city center. The room was spacious and very comfy and the manager was very accommodating. We were traveling from the United States, and had a number of issues both on the trip getting to France and leaving, but the manager was very helpful and pleasant to interact with. Would definitely stay here again if visiting this part of France again.

The staff was friendly. Great location. However, you will need a code to get in after 7:30 PM. One night, the code was not working. My husband and son were locked out. Luckily I was in the room and got out to the gate to let them in.

Nice old world charm with a pleasant garden for breakfast. Just outside the walls of the old city; so convenient for walking. Beds are adequate with a mattress on a metal frame. Quiet location.

Narbonne stop over
Loved having a kitchenette and super close to the old town and right on the canal that made for a great morning run. Only down side was there was no WiFi until the owner kindly let us near her server to access our emails etc. the cottage was a bit hard to find as its behind a gate and access is via a lock box the owner needs to open but a kindly neighbor phoned the owner who was right next door and she came promptly. I would highl y recommend this cottage. Very sweet and brightly decorated.

The hotel is within walking distance of the train station and the ramparts of Avignon. The house is 300 years old and quite charming. However, there is no elevator, and there are a lot of stairs to the upper floors.

Beautiful peaceful garden
We had an excellent stay for 7 nights . We received a warm welcome, and had a quiet, spacious, and comfortable room with good facilities, overlooking the garden. We were very well looked after, felt at home and enjoyed relaxing indoors and out...especially in the beautiful garden with a cold beer! The hotel is in a quiet street, but just a short walk from the centre and the rail and bus station. (We came on foot by Eurostar) The hotel suited us perfectly...it was the relaxing and restorative break we needed, and for us it could not have been better.

At Hotel Roche we had a very clean and comfortable room with a large bathroom with shower. The little garden was delightful and was made available for guests to sit and relax. The major drawback is that there are no facilities in the bedroom for making tea or coffee. This will deter me from staying there again.

Good position
Although only a budget hotel, suited our needs for position to see Avignon historical centre, breakfast was value for the price and there was free parking was just at the end of the street with a quick route to exit the town.

We chose the hotel knowing that the food would be really good and the bedroom so-so. It was just that;the bedroom had not been aired for some time by the dampness of the bedding- pity all that was needed was to open the window for a day or two. The operator did his best to be generally helpful.

Great sightseeing base in Avignon
Lovely small hotel just outside the city walls with free parking a one minute walk away. Rooms are individually styled and decorated. Breakfast is available that sets you up for the day. We would happily book again for another visit to Avignon. An easy 10 min walk takes into the heart of Avignon.

Had a lovely experience of staying in an old style French hotel just outside City walls. Staff very helpful and friendly. Ideally located for walking the old city which has some lovely areas away from main tourist attractions. It is about 15 minutes walk from Popes palace.

Typical French independent small hotel
Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant. The building was old style provencal with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The garden access was a bonus and we had a room opening onto the garden which was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and especially nice when the weather permitted it to be taken outside. It should be noted that there are no restaurants close by and a walk into Avignon centre (about 15 minutes) is required for meals.There is a supermarket within 5 minutes walk in opposite direction. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Great location
We had a wonderful stay. Ideal location for town centre. Staff were always friendly & helpful & we enjoyed breakfasts in the beautiful garden. Our room was simply furnished but clean with a great view of the garden. Thanks to Eric & all the staff at Hotel Roch for making this a memorable stay. Will certainly recommend it to friends & family.

The hotel had a convenient location, just a couple of blocks to walk to Avignon & we didn't have to pay for parking. We could park on the street for free in front of the hotel. The hotel has a lovely courtyard, with attractive foliage, but we weren't impressed with our room. It was dark and the bare minimum in attractive decor. It has paper thin walls, so we could hear people next door. They definitely need to improve the lighting in the room and bathroom at night. It was subpar. I didn't care to spend anytime in our room, except for sleeping. The price seemed pretty reasonable, but I wouldn't choose to stay there again.

The hotel is really charming, clean and close to the central area which is full of historical sights and also close to the train station. Continental breakfast in the garden will be included for a small fee. The only downside is that the walls are kind of thin so you will hear your neighbor.

Unreliable, unethical and negligent.
After a long day travelling across the country by train I found my way to this rather shabby looking Hotel. I climbed 3 flights of stairs only to be informed by the hotel clerk that my booking had been cancelled. I was perplexed and showed him my Expedia confirmation email, which specifies that the booking cannot be cancelled and does not need to be confirmed. He just shrugged and told me there was nothing they could do and that it was Expedia's fault. Despite having written confirmation of the booking I found myself without a room! I was able to find an alternative hotel which was only 50 metres away and in the end a much better place to stay. I was lucky in the sense that I'd arrived in daylight and had the chance to find somewhere to stay. I can't imagine how things might have been if i had arrived later in the evening or during a particularly busy period. As a traveller you need to have confidence that you have accommodation organised in advance. This hotel reneged on its obligation and commitment. Furthermore there was no apologies or even evidence of concern. I have reported them to Expedia and strongly advise everybody against booking with them. A hotel like this has no place in the tourism industry.

Great garden at this property. The room was very basic, and very small. I was told on the booking we would have a balcony but we were on the ground floor which opened out in to the garden which was not a problem as the garden was a lovely place to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine. I thought for the price the room was too basic and too small. The bed was also very small. The staff were very friendly, be prepared they speak very little English. The location was just outside of the city walls so about a 15 minute walk to the centre, there is free parking at the end of the road. Probably would not stay again as although the garden and staff were great the room was overpriced for what it was.

Don't be fooled by the exterior! Great place!
When we first drove up to the Hotel Jardin we almost kept going. But we had a reservation and were glad we walked in the door. The receptionist was expecting us, showed us a great room for three with the bathroom obviously recently updated and a nice long tub to boot. There was air conditioning, TV, and a beautiful indoor garden with tables and chairs. We enjoyed our wine and crackers outside. Breakfast is 8 Euros, breads, cereals, yogurts, juices, coffees, a bargain in France. We were just outside city walls and less than 10 minutes drive to the Palais des Papes and the chic Rue de la Republique. Plenty of parking.

Cute, No Frills Hotel Outside City Wall
We had a pleasant stay here. It's nice to have a garden outside your door (ground floor, obviously), and each room had a little table and two plastic chairs to enjoy the quiet, internal garden. That outdoor setup came in handy because our room at the end of the building had no Wifi connection inside, so I had to check my e-mail outside (probably not much fun in the winter). The creature comforts inside the room were minimal. The room was spotless, but other than a soft double bed, dresser, table, closet (no safe), and an ancient TV, there wasn't much going on. There was no fridge (which we would have gladly traded the TV for), and only a couple of shower gel/shampoo packets in the bathroom. The front desk service was helpful, and the front door has a touchpad security code lock that is activated at 7:30PM every night. Also, the hotel is just five minutes on foot from the train station (NOT the TGV station--that's further away), and about 10 from the middle of the old city. Overall, this little place boasts above average cost performance for a two-star hotel if you don't mind a very basic room setup. Two pieces of advice: bring slippers if you're staying here during the colder months (no carpets), and bear in mind that even though the English translation of the rules says checkout is by noon, the French half of that paper has the time pegged at 11AM. Management prefers the latter.

For the price it was O.K. in a town like Avignon, although the room was a bit smelly. The description of the garden is overrated. We arrived about 8.30 p.m. and the door was locked but very fortunately another guest arrived and let us in where we found an envelope with our name. It would have been difficult to get the envelope from outside! Future guests should be aware that the hotel seems to be un-staffed after 7. or 8.00 p.m.

Lovely slightly eccentric hotel.
Just outside the walls of Avignon, next to rows of ultra modern, characterless hotels, THIS hotel has lots of character. Minimum service, so not for those seeking luxury, but very lovely decoration and furniture in the rooms, and very quiet. Best are the rooms looking over the garden, especially rooms 1,2 and 3. Extremly good value for money.

The location was great and the price is pretty good but everything else was lacking. The rooms are quite old. My room did not have a bathroom door. It had a curtain to divide the bedroom from the bathroom. The curtain was dirty and not very hygienic. The beds are not comfortable, the tv was miniscule, and there was no fridge or safe. To be fair though the price was quite low so maybe it's not reasonable for me to expect some of those hotel extras. I have read in other reviews that the staff can be rude. That was my initial perception as well but as I got to know them I think there limited English makes them come off as rude. The staff was actually quite nice. I would not stay again. I think it would be worth paying a little extra in this case for more comfort.

Very handy to train station and bus station - with only a short walk along the road to each. Outside city wall but not inconveniently so. In a quiet little street between main road and railway line. Typical little 2 star hotel. We were a bit surprised to find that breakfast was not included, the first hotel in all our travels to exclude it from the tariff. Most conveniently the TGV shuttle stops on the main road only metres from the hotel. Not an ultra flash hotel but we had a comfortable stay.

Good and unpretentious, an oasis in the middle of newer apartment buildings. At a walking distance from old town Avignon, which make it very convenient.
