We booked the coco mat on the location and roof pool, we had a hectic previous 4 days in Istanbul and wanted to spend 2 days by the pool. On arrival we were told the roof area had been closed by the authorities 3 weeks ago the reason as told to us by the taxi driver the hotel had been built 2 or 3 stories to high. Had we have been notified in advance we could have looked elsewhere, the hotel check-in said we had been notified by email and that i had replied ( no problem ) nowhere do i remember seeing an email so went back through all correspondence, the only mail i replied to with no problem was a message telling me the tourist tax had gone up fron 4 euro to 10 euro. Not the end of the world and the checkin staff were great, complimentary bottle of wine and a small refund which covered the taxis to the local beach which was better than a roof pool anyway, so other than that a great stay.

Rooms were well equipped, and relatively quiet. Balcony views were limited, however the view from the rooftop of the city was excellent. Very well located for the ancient attractions, but due to the position in relation to the Acropolis, you’re rather limited to two routes to the main strip of restaurants which can get a little repetitive. Staff at the front desk & restaurant were lovely and extremely helpful. The housekeeping was a little inconsistent though.

I didn't get the room I booked - I was placed in 101 which, along with 102 and 103 are directly on the street. If you open the curtains you are there for all to see. There isn't even a sheer to allow you to view out without the world looking in. In fairness, the day after check-in the reception staff did offer me the Acropolis room I'd booked but with the upheaval of moving and a day left it didn't seem worthwhile. The rooftop area is billed as open 'seasonally' which one would expect late March however, it is actually CLOSED. By order of the Government it's closed and yet is still featured on the hotel website; is this intentionally to mislead? Breakfast is hit and miss. If your 5 star hotel breakfast features a machine to deliver your coffee and hot water for tea you won't be disappointed! Staff are around to get you a coffee from the bar set up but trying to find tea is a very miss in the hit and miss of life. The food is Okay but nothing special. On my first full day, I questioned with reception staff at what time rooms are cleaned what with it now being 15:00. I was told up until 6pm. However, when I returned at 8pm my room hadn't been touched. I advised the staff one of whom said he'd send someone "right away"...this after I'd just advised him I'd be leaving in a couple of hours. The very excellent concierge took ownership when I checked out and the hotel very kindly paid for my taxi to the airport. I wanted to love this place but it was average for me
