My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights and it was great. The woman at the front desk was very helpful! The breakfast in the morning was nice including fresh juice. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas or a short taxi ride for 5 soles. The only draw back was there was no heating or air conditioning in the room. The only ventilation we had was if we openned our doors to the balcony. The balcony was shared with 2 other rooms. While we were there no one else stayed in the other rooms but it was the low season for tourism (January). If I were in Arequipa again I would stay here again!
Even though the hotel was virtually empty (maybe total 4 people/groups), I was pretty disappointed with the first room offered. There is a separate section to the hotel (newer. not shown in the photos). The room was ground floor (though in the garden) and was not very impressive (unless you are purely looking for a bed to sleep in) and slightly musty (I have asthma). After asking for another room because of my asthma I was taken into the main building (in the photos) and given a much bigger room with fantastic views over half of Arequipa with the mountain in the distance. A wonderful breeze flowing through the room. My estimate went from about 5/10 to 9/10. Breakfast buffet was fine/great. Simple but fresh (only a small people staying so reduced catering for us (eggs cooked to order also)). Staff great. Location is OK, but if you don't get the views I would be disappointed with the location/price combination. Highly recommend, but be demanding about what building/room you get (room 18 is brilliant). Pool etc. etc. nice, but just find out about the room you will get first.
PESIMA COMUNICACION

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Baños nuevos, personal amable, cerca de buenos restaurantes, buen desayuno
Very nice hotel, amazing breakfast and excellent service. Was a surprise as the area near the hotel is not particularly great but the stay proved to deliver on promises.
Beautiful, unique, extremely clean hotel with very comfortable rooms and the best breakfast we've had in Peru. Little heaven of peace and tranquility and can highly recommend. We were a family of 5, stayed 2 nights and had the two rooms downstairs next to the terrace and pool.
We stayed 2 nights in this grand, boutique hotel, a 15 minute walk to the main square in a nice and quiet area. Great restaurant,Tipika, right down the street. Highly recommend it, one of the nicest places we stayed at a
reasonable price. Very clean, nice garden, impressive architecture in main building. Great value. Hans, a Dutchman, and his lovely wife were fun to talk to and very helpful about the basics of Arequipa and the restaurants.
This is a very nice hotel situated in an old mansion. My wife and I have spent 2 nights there and we were very happy of our stay. It is a family run hotel just a 15 minutes walk for the Plazza de Armas. The room was spacious and very clean. We liked very much our balcony overlooking the garden and having a view of el Misti from the room. The garden was so lovely and well tended. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit juices. The owner was very very friendly and allowed us to check out late for our evening bus ride to Cusco. We would stay here again and highly recommend it!
Posada el Castillo is hidden behind a plain wall and gate. Once in, you have a lovely landscaped lawn and gorgeous colonial Spanish residence. We stayed in the main building, and our room was very spacious with windows and a balcony. The bathroom was very modern and had loads of hot water (very unusual in Peru). The mattress was a bit firm, but that seemed to be the norm at all of our hotels in Peru. The hotel was fairly quiet and the thick walls blocked the majority of the traffic sounds.
il nostro soggiorno è andato molto bene, disponibile il proprietario e la moglie, gustosa la colazione, stupendo l'hotel e la camera con uno stile molto elegante. Consigliamo!!!
Only the owner speaks english and is only available at 2pm for check in. We arrived early so left our bags and walked into town. We returned after 2pm and had a smooth check in.
The hotel owners and staff took every chance to impress us and to make us feel welcomed. The hotel is Great, familiar and in a great safe neighbourhood with healthy walk from The centrum of arequipa.
This is a beautiful property in a very old building, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very clean, very friendly, beautiful garden, good breakfast in Ma beautiful room decorated with artifacts found from excavations on site. My only complaint is the bed was very hard -- I've encountered this same bed
elsewhere in Peru so I think they all get their mattrresses from the same place! Would definately recommend.

Away from main plaza ,20 mts. walk. Breakfast could have been better. Amt. of food varied depending on how many guests present in the hotel. Only one person working. Does not speak English
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Close to the centre, but far enough to be peaceful and quiet. Exceptional service. Room was large, very clean, and the bed comfortable. We always had hot water and good wifi. Breakfast was delicious. We had a wonderful stay.
Las instalaciones del hotel son muy confortables y limpias. La atencion muy esmerada.
El barrio en donde queda es tranquilo (de noche algo solitario).
En general es una buena opcion para alojarse.
If you are tiring of less than clean rooms, poor plumbing and eclectic styles, this guesthouse is the perfect antidote. The rooms have an understated elegance and the bathrooms are beautifully-appointed with reliable hot water - some have bath tubs. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit juices, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, ham, avocado, scrambled eggs and bread. Great value for money.
