"Wonderful stay at the Mitsis Royal Mare, the room and facilities were elegant and perfectly maintained and all staff were lovely and welcoming. We found the food in the themed restaurants great, maybe they could improve the food options for the main restaurant, especially for vegetarian guests. As in many resorts in Crete there were few stray cats and it was nice to notice one of the staff leaving some food and water available for them. "This is a lovely hotel within walking distance of the beach. We had hired a car so that we had the freedom of going wherever, whenever. However we did do two excursions with a local tour operator and they picked us up from a nearby hotel. There's ample free parking on site which is great. The hotel facilities are basic but all work. Some parts do require a bit of TLC (e.g. repainting and updating of bathrooms) but all worked fine. Our room had AC which in the heat is worth the extra...
