Years of history. Built in 1895 and was originally built for National Guard Armory. So much of the building is original and if only these walls could talk. Great energy. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND LORENZO’S restaurant which you can walk a city block to…. Every good as my meals in Italy last Fall.
Unique boutique hotel "castle" with armor, paintings, and items from a bygone era. Easy access from the expressway with nearby restuarants. Rooms were very comfortable with updated bathrooms, TV, beds. Very nice family owned hotel which was an armory and meticulously renovated with charm. Great stop on our roadtrip.
Our room reeked of farts. The sewer vent was STINKING up the whole place. When I brought it up to the old man at the front he was very rude and dismissive. This place is cool looking the the dining area/hall. But that’s it. The smell was so bad in the room for 2 days, NOT WORTH the $!!!

Well cooling systems at the end of February or early March in New York state Freezes instantly. We prioritize "HEAT" in "WINTER" not "COLD" Being given 1-Star for this has to be the most unfair rating ever. THANK YOU.
The most amazing overnight stay in my drive from West Coast to the East Coast. Like staying in a room at the Louvre which is not even possible? The Castle is a former New York State Armory re-imagined into an impeccable hotel. There would have been some serious discussion if my daughter did not already have a wedding venue…Five star value at this establishment.

Thank you, so much for & on behalf of the entire management, and staff.
I reserved deluxe queen room. I ended up with deluxe king room. It was huge and beautifully decorated. It was very clean. The castle was absolutely stunning.
The staff was ok. I didn’t need any assistance from them.
This is the second time we have stayed here and loved it. The price is excellent, the rings are comfortable with lots of little extras like short bread cookies and full Keurig makers. If you come, take the time to explore. It is truly a fascinating place. The reading room for instance is so incredible.
The castle is like staying in a museum. Keurig coffee in room makes a great cup of coffee. A small selection of nice breakfast snacks was provided. The room was very spacious with high ceilings. Comfy bed and large working tv was a plus. Cleanliness of room could be improved with a little more dusting and wiping down of walls and trim. However we had a delightful and quiet stay!

Disliked: Staff & service
The room we were in was so hot and you couldn't adjust the temp as well as the discomfort of having someone come into the room (thankfully we had the chain on the door) the first day. The walls are thin so bring earplugs or a white noise machine. The fact that everything is nailed down paired with a "don't leave your expensive stuff in the room cause we aren't responsible if it gets stolen" doesn't speak "safe" to me.
Aside from that it was spacious and served its purpose.

thermostats controls are OFF-ON & AUTO with up down arrows warmer cooler. How hard is that. Thank You.
This place can be very different and unique experience for thous who like to run out of ordinary, to stay in historic looking place but still have all modern life benefits.
Beautiful building and very nice stuff.
Just keep in mind that you will have complimentary breakfast only. But rooms have good coffeemaker and fridge to start your day.
