Great location!
The apartment was centrally located and within walking distance to the city centre including the train station by the water. It was very spacious and is an older style apartment.

Great location near lots of restaurants and Anne Frank House. It was a nice open apartment and the one bed was comfortable but the other people had to sleep in a fold out couch. This apartment is on the ground floor with two apartments above who were stomping around until the middle of the night - made it difficult to sleep especially for our 3 year old. Overall the apartment was quite dirty/unkept but suited us for the extra space it afforded us with a full kitchen

Black Mold Health Hazard
We fled this property within an hour of arriving due to extensive black mold infestation making the unit hazardous and uninhabitable. Despite the listing portraying a clean, comfortable apartment, my family was horrified to discover many square meters of mold growth covering walls, mattresses, and throughout the bathroom. The health risks posed were severe. We rapidly contacted the host to alert them and booked emergency hotel accommodations (for a month!) as the apartment was unsafe for habitation, especially with children who are asthmatic. I immediately contacted VRBO upon this unacceptable discovery, providing extensive photo/video documentation of the full mold infestation revealing inaccurate listing representations. Incredibly, the host played ignorant, pretending to not understand the hazardous nature of such rampant black mold. After filing a case, VRBO representatives were responsive and understood the gravity of the misrepresentations and health violations. They mediated appropriately on my behalf to secure a full refund from the host. We are grateful for the full reimbursement but extremely troubled by the dishonest listing neglecting to show such a hazardous unit, and the host's indifference to our distress initially. I cannot recommend in good faith until the host comprehensively addresses the root moisture/ventilation issues fostering such alarming mold. Rent safely.

At first the property is save and the last customers gave me a 5 and a 4 star. Never rent your property to these people. They went in late in the evening and I stayed up till late. They were very friendly and I showed them the house and they were satisfied with everything. The next day they want to talk to me and said the house was unacceptable because 2 of them were asmatic and where afraid of a couple of spots in the cupboard and behind the washing machine. We agreed I returned them 75% of the rent so it was possible to rent the place again we shaked hands. They still had the keys so I asked them to take 25% with them and I should cancel the whole thing. So they will get tax and everything back. Next day they came and a guy started to make pictures and they said they want 100% I was called by VRBO in the meantime. VRBO acted not right because I asked them to give 75% and cancel the deal. They gave 75 and didn’t cancel. I have the conversation about the deal on mail. These people want a 5 star apartment for one star price, are unrealizable . Now I stop before I get really angry

I don’t know what went wrong. You didn’t call me and with the central heating is nothing wrong. You can heat up to more than 22 Celsius which is really hot. I don’t understand your complaint. Sorry

This apartment is in a great location! Paul was very easy to work with. If you are looking for an updated apartment with modern furnishings, this is not the place for you. The apartment was very functional and met our needs. Very close to a grocery store and easy to get to the main tourist areas from this location. Enjoyed our stay.

18th century home with a great location
It is a wonderful space for a larger group. Good kitchen space. Quiet neighborhoods close to the down town core. Just remember it is a 18th century home so it has character. Loved our stay and would recommend to friends.

Welcoming accommodation is a great location
Myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pauls accommodation. The location was just perfect (Jordaan is lovely). Communication was quick and easy - especially given all the trouble we had getting to Amsterdam (all flights from the UK were cancelled and we had fo fly out the following day). Paul was very understanding and stayed in regular contact right up til we arrived. The accommodation was perfect for us and the stress of 2 days travel soon disappeared (a lovely bottle of wine from Paul helped with that !). The accommodation was very much a home rather than a hotel, which is what we were after. I'd happily recommend staying here and hope to do so again in the future.

The property is well situated and in a great area. It is very old, was acceptably clean, but basics such as linen are in need of replacement. It would have also been useful if some tourist information had been provided e.g. a map of Amsterdam. Communication with the host was easy.

Dirty decrepit accommodation
We understood that this property was old but in a good location for sightseeing. We were not prepared for the dirt. The property was very grotty, floors not swept properly before washing so all was done was the dirt was pushed around the floor. The bucket of dirty water was left in the courtyard area for our entire 3 night stay. The courtyard itself was unswept, cigarette butts on the floor - dried out dying pot plants. The bathroom had been home renovated and was terrible - cracked tiles, dirty shower curtain. One of the light switches was broken - not safe. The bed was reasonably comfortable, oven filthy. Very sorry we stayed there.

I am always surprised by some comment. These people came in half hour earlier ringing at my door at 9.30. I just wake up. I put their heavy luggage at my place and because we should meat at 2.00 The other people left at 11 I cleaned the apartment totally and put the luggage into the apartment. Showed the people around and everything was ok. I met them on the street and asked them if everything was fine. Yes and the had lovely Thai food. Asked me for a taxi. I told them Uber was also possible. Nothing about the apartment so thanks for review. And after their stay the ashtrays on the patio were complete filled.

as advertised
The apartment is as pictured, but larger than it appears to be. Very accessible to everywhere in the city, and in a quiet neighborhood. The ad says it is wheelchair accessible, but in the true meaning of the phrase- it isnt for anyone that cant walk up a step. The rooms are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, but there is a step up into the bathroom and again into the shower. It is suitable for a child or someone that is dependent on assistance, as there is plenty of room to help up the step.. A chair can move freely thru the apartment otherwise. Paul is a great host, and always available for questions, directions and problems. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing location and good basic accommodations in the Jordaan. We enjoyed hearing the church bells in our little patio. The bathroom is beat up but perfectly functional. Communication with the owner was very good. When we came the flat was not ready, because we were early, but the owner let us leave our luggage there. The flat is well equipped, kitchen and bathroom are quite nice. Overall our impression was very good.

For the most part we liked this apartment. The location was easy to find and in a mostly quiet neighborhood. It wasn’t a bad walk to get to the locations we wanted to see and there is a grocery store about a minutes walk away. Paul was easy to contact and a very good host. Even gave us a bottle of wine which was very much appreciated after spending all day traveling. The apartment itself could use some work. Repaint the walls, replace caulking around the bathtub, get new towels for the bathroom. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The location and the owner were great. The place is falling apart.wires and cobwebs drape the ceiling, cracks in walls and floors, serious mold in bath tiles. BUT the location is perfect, and it is very large. Owner Paul is very responsive and nice.

The host is a warm, funny, lovely guy who greeted us with a bottle of wine. We agree with most reviews here that this apartment is very well located near grocery options and attractions and it’s well equipped. It just needs some TLC and regular, proper dusting…and it can get a bit musty if it rains (allergy sufferers take heed). The smaller bikes pictured in the listing had been stolen prior to our arrival, so they were not available, but overall it was a pleasant stay and relatively decent value.

Host was superior with communication and friendly. The location can’t be beat. Steps away from the canals, restaurants, markets, and shopping. Super convenient! Fantastic location
Our family loved this location and were able to walk to just about any attraction from the flat. As indicated in many of the other reviews, this place is pretty rough around the edges. If you are expecting a place that has been thoroughly cleaned, this isn’t your spot. There is a fair amount of decay and the bathroom is like something out of a movie, but we made it work and focused on spending as much time out and about as possible. We were very fortunate with the weather.

Great location
This home is in a great location! We were able to walk to all the major attractions and went to the market nearby on Saturday after we checked in. The check in process was simple. We were able to meet with Paul and drop our luggage at 10am and explore while the previous renter vacated and Paul cleaned the home for us. We picked up the keys at 1pm. The property itself is in various stages of disrepair. It needs TLC and it shows. Several of the lights did not work or needed new light bulbs. The home has 1 bed and 2 couches to sleep on. One couch was supposed to be a pull out sofa but it was broken and very uncomfortable. The shower head support was also broken and hanging off the wall by one screw. It did have a washing machine for us to use as well as a dishwasher. Overall a great location, just needs some updating and repairs.

The shower has been repaired. The bench has been moved for meters and that is why Something was broeken. I had to repair this. This bench is unfortunately not Made to pull it over for meters.

Very nice and big apartment
The location of this place is ideal, 15 min from Amsterdam Centraal station. Within walking distance of quit a bit of things. Paul is a great and responsive host! We had everything we need. Maybe the apartament was old renovated, but it was fine for us , as we came to enjoy Amsterdam and not that appartement. Just for a note: do not count on bikes ;) Thanks

Great location and easy to communicate with owner. Quite spacious. Sinks, toilet, bedding and middle of each room’s floor were clean, but everything else needed to be cleaned. The courtyard could not be used as it was dirty and cluttered with rusty furniture, bicycles, mops, buckets, dead plants etc. It could be made into a pretty, pleasant place.

I asked here how the apartment was and she said everything perfect. I gave here the opportunity to leave later because of here plain. I asked here to put this in a review so I am sad with these 2 stars. The comment about the patio is not true and the bikes are for free. So thanks for staying

Great location
Paul was a friendly host and made us feel welcome. The apartment is extremely spacious and has a good amount of natural light for a basement flat. Some of the furniture and fittings such as the bathroom tiles are pretty old and tatty, but the apartment has real character and faded charm. There was plenty of hot water and the rooms were well heated. The double bed was very comfortable and it was peaceful at night. My daughter (age 11) slept well on the sofa bed. You really can’t fault the location, right in the heart of Amsterdam and a few seconds away from the beautiful Prince’s Canal. If you want 5-star luxury I would say look elsewhere, but if you want basic accommodation with a bit of character in a brilliant location, this would be worth considering.

When we arrived there was a terrible smell in the appartment. There was no double bed, the walls above the headboard were crumbling. The bathroom was dirty, shower not attatched to wall and unfit for use. We decided to go and spend some of our holiday money booking a hotel and left this place. Im sure the owner will reply under this with a whole load of excuses, as he has done with others. But the guys morals must be real low to rent such a run down flat to holiday makers. Really bad start to our holiday and cost us money.

No excuses. I found out they were left after 3 days. I wrote a mail to ask them what time want to leave. Finally I opened the door and found out they were left taking a key with them. I had to replace a cylinder in the lock. They arrived 2 hours late and I showed them around. Everything was ok. That were the last words. After 15 minutes I smelled a joint because I am living upstairs so I understood why they were late. The next guest gave me 4 stars and said something nice about the bed. Thanks James for this review

Great location insulated from touristy shtick
It's a simple, straightforward apartment that trades frills for a good value. Great access to grocery stores and only a short walk among the canals to the major sites. Don't bother with buses from the train station, get an Uber, which is cheaper than a taxi. Paul the host is very friendly and accomodating.
