With the continuation of COVID-19  travelling today comes with a few extra challenges. Make a note of these useful tips before hopping on your plane to Amami Oshima:

• Look into what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check government advisories before booking.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to lower your mask temporarily for ID purposes.
• Rather than handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Remove items from your pocket, like your wallet and phone, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
