Excellent Staff. Very Welcoming. Room Dated but spotless. Lots of parking. Only thing not giving 5 Stars is the Commmon areas and Bathroom very dated. Carpets very worn in places. Some refurbishment underway . Location Excellent. No hesitation in recommending.
Young lady at reception was extremely helpful and cheery. Checked us in, then became the bar maid for our drinks, and happily gave us fresh milk and extra tea bags for our room, which was very comfortable.
Perfect for what we wanted for a 1 night stay on the way to Goodwood Festival Of Speed, room a bit dated but clean and tidy, staff were great, all-around decent hotel 👍
The property is just around the corner from the train station and a short walk up to the high street for many dining options. We were able to keep our bicycles safely in a room in the property.

Alton House Delight
Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Very convenient with free parking and a short stroll into town.
We booked for its proximity to the Mid Hants railway station which is just around the corner . It was very convenient for the old high street and we will definetly visit again . A nice corner room gave us good light .We cannot comment on the restaurant as it does Sunday lunches not evening meals that day. Overall NO downsides on our single nights stay with convenient parking arrangements.
Was a very friendly and helpful staff and lovely place to stayed

Check in was easy and the staff were amazing during my entire stay.
I stayed in a single room, the room was surprisingly spacious and well laid out and had a decent sized bathroom.
Couple of things to note:
Room was on the third floor, there is no elevator. Not too much of a problem as the stairs are not steep or narrow.
Room was in the”attic space” so being just over 5’ tall wasn’t too much of a problem, but anyone taller may find it a bit of a problem.
Room had great skylights with really good black out blinds!
Hotel is showing a little wear and tear, but considering the age of the building it’s nothing major. It has a lot of charm.
Food was also really good, and reasonably priced.
Reception area is very welcoming with a fire going the entire time (I visited in Jan!). It’s also a nice place to sit and read with a drink (bar is handy being right next door)
Big bonus is the ease of getting around, it’s less than 5 mins from the train station and about a 5 min walk into the town.
It’s also only a 35-40 min walk to Jane Austen’s house and Chawton House. Which is another bonus!
Overall would 100% stay here again!
Our stay was very pleasant, staff all friendly. Room good size, good WiFi, bed comfortable, room and bathroom clean. Buffet breakfast was really good. Enjoyable stay
