Finchstone Guest House is an ideal private setting for family and friends to gather and relax. It’s also a great base for exploring the many charming towns of Northumberland County, visiting Ste. Anne’s Spa, or enjoying the spectacular beaches of Cobourg and Prince Edward County. See the Driving Tour Highlights and Eateries guide for a selection of fine restaurants to start your adventure.This fully renovated 5-bedroom farmhouse (3 with ensuite baths) sits on 30 acres of privacy, tucked down a leafy 100-metre driveway.
Guests have exclusive use of the property, including the pool, BBQ, and a small kitchenette with an air fryer (no full kitchen). The space also features a dining table, two spacious reception rooms with cozy reading areas, and scenic walking trails.
A light, self-serve complimentary continental breakfast is provided and typically includes milk, cereal, bread/toast, fruit, muffins, tea, and Keurig coffee.
You and your guests will have full access to all areas, including the TV room and both reception rooms. Entry to the guesthouse is easy with your private door code. Hosts are always available by phone or messaging if needed.
Finchstone is just a short stroll from Ste. Anne’s Spa. Spend a day using your spa pass, relax on Cobourg’s stunning beach, or golf at the beautiful Shelter Valley course - then return to your own private retreat.
The three suites are large and offer views of gardens, farmland, and forest, with Ste. Anne’s Spa and Lake Ontario in the distance. Two additional bedrooms are smaller and more private, located adjacent to the suites. Outdoors, you’ll find a pool, patio, and a three-story treehouse nearby.
Visitors may enjoy a scenic drive through the many charming towns nearby, including Cobourg and Port Hope for dining and shopping, or unique destinations such as Warkworth, Stirling, Hastings, and Prince Edward County. For something more casual, try the BBQ in Keene, or take in the beautiful historic roads around Rice Lake. An interactive Driving Tour with local restaurants, directions, and clickable websites is available for guests. It can be viewed here: Tour. Within walking distance, you’ll find Ste. Anne’s food truck (seasonal) and bakery for delicious meals and morning espresso. For a sit-down option, The Lass & Ladle in nearby Grafton offers spectacular dishes, along with the many fine restaurants and pubs in Cobourg and Port Hope.
Adjacent to the farmhouse, the rustic yet restored barn can be reserved for an additional cost. Featuring chandeliers and finished pine floors, it provides a memorable setting for both kids’ activities and adult gatherings. Please inquire to book.

We stayed at the Finchstone Guesthouse because we had booked a day spa at Ste. Anne’s for the next day. The spacious home and accommodating owners made our stay very comfortable! They provided a complimentary continental breakfast. The owners lived next door, and were always available whenever we needed anything. Their kindness made us feel welcome and at home, and we’d definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful stay here celebrating a birthday with five friends, paired with a spa day at St. Anne’s. The property is beautiful, set in a charming and private country setting. The home itself is spacious and best described as “comfy Victorian” — warm, inviting, and perfect for relaxing together. We arrived just after a snowfall, and the drive and walkway had already been cleared by the host. We especially enjoyed a cozy evening gathered around the fireplace. The location is ideal, with St. Anne’s just down the road, making it incredibly convenient. Our host was gracious, responsive, and very helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this property for a girls’ getaway for a peaceful, comfortable retreat.
We thoroughly loved our stay at Finchstone Guest House. The bedrooms are clean and spacious and there are loads of bathrooms - all with bathtubs! We all enjoyed the pool and it was a great way to cool off. We walked to the Food truck for dinner and got some gluten free bakery items which is right next door. I recommend staying at this location without hesitation.
