About this property
The Old Tearooms in Rural Northumberland
Welcome to The Old Tearooms at Thrunton Vale Cottages; once a roadside garage and tearooms on the A697.
One of two pet friendly adjoining cottages, set against the backdrop of Thrunton Woods; known for enchanted walks, mountain biking and horse riding. Nestled in the heart of rural Northumberland between Alnwick and Rothbury.
Offering beautiful countryside views for the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and explore Northumberland with family or friends.
The cottage:
The Open Plan Living Area A large L-shaped room that houses the kitchen, dining and living areas with French doors leading onto the rear patio.
The kitchen comes well equipped with all the pots and pans, dinnerware and cutlery you should need. A fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and Nespresso machine are provided for use along with an electric hob and single oven. We provide salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar and some Nespresso pods and olive oil to get you started.
Should you need to do laundry, there is also washer/dryer, iron and board. The waste bin is split into three, providing a bin for general waste, for recycling and one for glass. You will find eco friendly, vegan and cruelty free washing-up liquid, all-purpose cleaning spray and hand wash for your use while staying in the cottage.
In front of the French doors, is a dining table and chairs for four with eco friendly cork table mats.
The living area is set to the rear of the property with a large picture window enjoying the countryside views. A pair of comfortable two seater sofas invite you to sit back and relax, giving you the opportunity to read a book, or play a game from the selection provided.
If you’d prefer to watch TV, then a 40” Smart TV and Soundbar is provided for your entertainment; watch terrestrial channels on Freely, or log into your own streaming accounts to continue watching that show that you love. A Roberts radio is also provided for your entertainment and can be used as a bluetooth speaker. The cottage enjoys full fibre internet with speeds of up to 145Mb.
The Bedrooms There are two bedrooms; one larger than the other but both offering kingsize beds, accommodating up to four guests. The larger room situated at the front of the cottage has a large wardrobe with drawers and a vintage desk that can be used as a dressing table as well as a dedicated place to work if you need to. The cosier, smaller bedroom offers hanging space for clothes and a chest of drawer. Both rooms enjoy bedside cabinets and lamps. All of our bedding is 100% organic or recycled cotton where possible.
The Bathroom A spacious room with a generous bath and separate shower cubicle, pedestal sink with mirror and shaving light. You will find eco friendly hand wash and toilet rolls made from recycled paper and manufactured in the UK.
Outdoors To the front is a pet friendly enclosed garden for the sole use of The Old Tearooms. In the warmer months, a table, chairs and parasol will be out for you to enjoy some fresh air. Festoon lighting runs around the perimeter of the fencing giving a magical feel in the evenings, as well as helping to identify the cottage after dusk in this dark, rural location.
Across the gravel carriage driveway is a semi-circular grassed area with picnic benches that is for the use of both holiday cottages.
To the rear is a private gravelled rear patio with bistro table and chairs, although it is not enclosed so dogs should remain on leads at the back. It is the perfect place to sit and enjoy some breakfast or a drink with the countryside views of Thrunton Woods in the background.
There is also a shed accessed in the front garden for your use if you need to store bikes.
Offroad parking for one car is available at the front of the cottage. An additional space is also available to the left of the adjoined cottage, in front of large black shed.
