About this property

Algonquin HappyForest Cottage-Canadian Highlander's Eco-Log Home at Kushog Lake

  • Welcome to Happyforest, a peaceful Eco-Log Cottage nestled amid the natural beauty of Kushog Lake, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario, Canada.

Happyforest is A Place to Slow Down and Reconnect. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventure, a peaceful family getaway, or simply a place to escape the pace of everyday life, Happyforest offers a chance to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Here, the lake changes with the seasons, the forest invites exploration, and every window offers a view worth remembering.

    >>>>>Dream Home

Living in an all-wood cottage beside a forest lake is a dream shared by many Canadians. For us, that dream became a reality after five years of dedication and hard work, as we built our retirement home, Happyforest, entirely from wood.

Perched on a natural rocky rise, the cottage enjoys an open setting, fresh air, and spectacular views in every direction. Large windows throughout the home frame the surrounding landscape, bringing the beauty of the forest and lake indoors and allowing you to experience the changing scenery from almost every room.

    >>>>>Lake Views from Every Season

The master bedroom, second bedroom, kitchen, and spacious deck all face Kushog Lake, offering sweeping views of the lake and its changing beauty throughout the year. From the cottage, you can admire the island at the heart of the lake, the surrounding forests, and the peaceful rhythm of nature.

On the southern side of the cottage, the living room and guest room overlook quiet woodlands, creating a peaceful and private atmosphere. The property also borders approximately 2,500 acres of Crown land, opening the door to countless opportunities for outdoor exploration. Step outside and discover the surrounding wilderness through hiking, boating, fishing, wildlife watching, and nature exploration—or simply enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

    >>>>>Handcrafted with Tradition in Mind

Newly constructed and entirely wood-built, Happyforest was thoughtfully handcrafted using modern architectural techniques while paying tribute to the traditional craftsmanship of early British settlers.

The cottage spans two stories plus a full basement, with ceilings of at least nine feet on every level, creating a spacious and comfortable atmosphere throughout. Each level has its own entrance and is equipped with essential living facilities, including a kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms.

While inspired by traditional craftsmanship, Happyforest offers the conveniences of modern living. Guests can enjoy Wi-Fi, central heating, and a wood-burning fireplace, providing warmth and comfort during cool evenings and cold winter days.

The cottage is supplied by a newly drilled 320-foot-deep well, providing a reliable source of fresh water. The water quality is professionally certified every year to ensure that it remains safe, clean, and dependable.

Traditional character, modern comfort, and a deep connection to nature—Happyforest was built to be enjoyed in every season.

Your Gateway to Algonquin Provincial Park

Happyforest is also ideally located as a gateway to Algonquin Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s most remarkable wilderness destinations.

Covering approximately 1.88 million acres, Algonquin is a magnificent landscape of rolling maple-covered hills, rugged ridges, and thousands of lakes. Forests, wetlands, rivers, and waterways intertwine to create an extraordinary natural setting for exploration and adventure.

Every season offers something different. Enjoy camping, hiking, birdwatching, fishing, boating, cycling, skiing, and ice skating, or simply take time to immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the Canadian wilderness.

On your journey, make a memorable stop at the Dorset Lookout Tower, rising 465 feet above the surrounding landscape. From the observation deck, enjoy sweeping panoramic views above the treetops, overlooking the charming town of Dorset, Lake of Bays, and the surrounding wooded hills.
