The best area to stay in Alexandria, Eastern Cape, is generally within the town centre itself, or on the immediate outskirts, offering convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding natural beauty.

Alexandria is a small, quiet town, and its main street, Voortrekker Street, is where you'll find most of the local shops, cafes, and essential services. The town is surrounded by farmlands, particularly pineapple plantations, giving it a distinct rural feel. Accommodation options are typically guest houses or farm stays, providing a personal touch.

For families, staying in or just outside the town centre is ideal. You'll be close enough to easily reach shops for supplies, and many farm stays offer spacious grounds where children can explore and enjoy the open space. The nearby beaches, such as those at Kenton-on-Sea or Boknes, are a short drive away and offer lovely day trip opportunities for coastal fun.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will also find the areas just outside the town centre appealing. Many guest houses offer comfortable rooms with views of the countryside, providing a relaxed setting.

The best time to visit Alexandria, Eastern Cape, is during the South African summer months, from November to February, when the weather is warm and sunny.

This period is ideal for enjoying the region's outdoor activities, particularly its beautiful beaches and coastal nature reserves. The days are long, making it superb for exploring the lush Eastern Cape landscape and wildlife.

For families, this time offers excellent conditions for beach holidays, with swimming, sunbathing, and various water sports readily available. Nearby Kenton-on-Sea and Bushman's River Mouth provide popular spots for seaside fun and are just a short drive from Alexandria.
