The best time to go to Al Balid is during the Khareef season, which runs from June to early September, or in the shoulder months just outside of this period. The Khareef season brings a unique meteorological phenomenon to the Dhofar Governorate, transforming the typically arid landscape into a lush, green oasis. During these months, a persistent monsoon mist rolls in from the Arabian Sea, cooling temperatures significantly and bringing light rain. This makes it an ideal escape from the intense heat experienced in other parts of the region. For those who prefer slightly less humidity and clearer skies while still enjoying the green landscape, the shoulder months of late May and late September to early October are also excellent. Temperatures are still pleasant, and you can experience the lingering effects of the Khareef greenery.
